As far as resumes go its all about the layout So its making sure that all the important
things pop out for the recruiters eyes Most HR professionals or people who are hiring
See you know hundreds resumes a day And they are just skimming through
And if it looks good in that first initial glance
Then they will actually start reading what you have to say
Anything that you put on your resume is fair game for an employer to ask you about
So just make sure that you're able to talk about each experience that's on your resume
I think one thing to make sure you do before submitting your resume for any position is
to make sure its been proofread and reviewed by your career center
Definitely if you're a student you don't need to have more than one page
It's always a good practice to use bullets rather than simply paragraphing information
It allows the reader to be able to find that information on your resume
In terms of tense make sure is a position is in the past use the past tense
If you're still in that job use the present tense
Use good action verbs perhaps utilize a thesaurus to help you find those words
And don't repeat too often I like to see education on the top
I love to see GPA I like to see your expected graduation date
So there's no question of when you might be graduating
Um I like to see a technical summary I think its really important to know the technical
abilities that you have And maybe some of the software that you've
already learned in the classroom or maybe from a internship
The experience that you've had from internships so far
So definitely you're work experience And then extra-curricular activities
Whether that be sports or clubs and associations that you belong to
People lose out on really great interviews if they are entirely qualified and have one
mistake in their resume Um you know a hiring manager will pass on
them Typos
Always make sure that you double check your work
Look for typos Look for grammatical mistakes
And perhaps make someone else double check your work as well
I've seen a few weird activities and personal interests
And I think that in working with hiring managers and sharing resumes
You have to be aware of the reader that's looking at your resume
Obviously making sure that its clean And that its easy to read
Grammar Spelling
Those things do get read And do get noticed
And could mean not getting an interview if somethings misspelled or wrong
If you have good content in your resume You can't go wrong with a conventional look
