You are a great director. Come and work in Myanmar.
I did not pay her to say this. This is your own free will right?
Oh, look I'm in an airport
and Kim's there too. That can only mean one thing:
We've got nothing better to do but to hang out
at airports and pretend like we know anything about traveling
or we're actually going to Myanmar.
Yeah, that too.
Welcome to Yangon Over four million residents call this former capital, home.
And From its early initial
settlement days to British colonial rule, to the
Japanese occupation,to its recent political turmoil, this place is
simply a gem. A gem that not many people know about.. yet.
I had initial fears about whether or not Yangon or Rangoon, would feel differently
than other south east Asian cities. And even with many years of isolationism,
Trust me, the vibes of the streets of Yangon felt quite unique.
I was so impressed with certain luxuries here. Multiple colored lights.. flat screen LCDs..
One way to feel like a baller in Myanmar is to exchange all your money to 1000 Kyat bills
Or just sleep with it.
Meet Chris. When we first met in university he sat in a table next to me and often invited me to his home country.
I told him him each time oh yeah that'd be fun, just out
of politeness Then I found myself
being polite at his dinner table three years later.
Oh yeah sounds like fun.
Next up, we hit the zoological grounds to entertain some animals.
Visitors can actually feed the attractions.. including hungry hungry
hippos, elephants, and deer. For the record, I'm terrified of deer.
I guess somebody forgot to feed Mickey. Oh oh, and don't forget to feed the
Vietnamese animals.
Who said black swans can't swim?
and white swans can't even dance.
They need to shut up before they colonize another country.
Hey what's better, a Burmese elephant or a Vietnamese elephant?
Later in the day we decided that we wanted to blend in
more with locals, so we shopped for traditional Burmese clothes
I meant some traditional DAYtime Burmese clothes.
So we hit up a mall and shopped for some longyi.
and hit town the only way we knew how...
Strutting in our skirts
underwear optional.
Take that imperialism. That's for the last hundred years. Now you know
how feels like to get banged inside of a giant bell. Yeah, in yo face,
Ahhh, so that's where the sweeping noises have been coming from.
Anyways, this is Shwedegon
arguably the biggest attraction in Yangon.
Without going into the history too much,
just know that this place is pretty awesome and a must visit
Does anyone notice a positive tone so far for this video?
What's wrong with me? Have I gone mainstream?
I sound so trite and cliche. Uh What happened to all the negativity?
Oh man, ahhh.
When the sun was no more, the atmosphere blossomed and suddenly
for the first time in my life I wished I was more religious.
These people had core set values that provide ethical
foundations for their lives. Despite their lack of financial
wealth, their soul and spirits are perhaps more free than
I'll ever be. It's essential to believe in a higher being.
So I did insist that you believe in KyleLe.net
Night fall in Yangon. The crowds do not gather as much
as other South East Asian countries. The streets are relatively desolate for
the most part. And this eerie vibe escalates in the air. I was far from home.
near western Asia for the first time of my life
And enjoying every moment. Okay, this isn't working out. I'm not
gonna sell out. This is.. this is just too positive. I'm turning into another less
sexy Rick Steves. This ain't cool, man. This ain't cool.
This is Mohinga. It's possibly the national dish of Myanmar. Think of it
like pho, but without the pho taste or texture.
Everybody over the age of 8 knows that John Cena can not wrestle
But he sure brews a mean morning tea.
Back at Chris' place, due to my visit to Myanmar
and not because of Htamane Sticky Rice Donation Festival, people were busy preparing
more sticky rice for me than I could eat in a lifetime.
The process was simple, but required a lot of man power.
No no, man power..
not boy power.
Leave it to the experts.
Like I said, it's so simple that You can even try it at home
it's basically rice mixed with coconuts, ginger, sesame seeds, nuts
among other garnishes. You just need to gather a bunch of strong Burmese men
and build an oven in the ground. It's so simple, even your six year-old could do it.
So that wraps it up for Yangon. Check back soon because my positive
journey in Myanmar isn't quite over yet. A special thanks to
Chris for making this all possible. Thank you again for welcoming me into your country
Get out of here, get out of Myanmar.
Supposedly, they say that right here is a very sacred place. And if you
wish for something, it'll come true. So I wished that you guys subscribe
and tell your friends. and uh I'd get like
a million views. and people wil donate a million dollars. and I'll get a
million girlfriends. That's what I wished for.
