Hi and welcome to another review!
Today we'll be having a look at NECA's "Rambo First Blood" John J. Rambo, which is part of series 1!
This figure has been released in 2013 and it's 7" scaled, it's about 7 inches tall!
Let's take a look at the packaging! It's a narrow clamshell featuring the Rambo logo on top.
On the background we can glimpse this wooded setting, which is reprised here at the bottom with all these trees.
The name of the character: John J. Rambo and, at the right, the poster of the movie.
On the back, this sort of military collage, with the Rambo logo at the bottom...these ammo belts, the signature jungle knife and Rambo's dog tags, and this read-up that I'll focus for you as always!
Let's take a closer look!
The likeness to Silvester Stallone is pretty good, it doesn't impress me, to be honest.
I've seen some Rocky action figures, by NECA, that had a much better likeness compared with this figure, but it's definitely Stallone, there's no doubt about it!
Especially the mouth, very characteristic, with the lower lip open asymmetrically.
Some blood trickling here on John Rambo's face...these big sideburns, stubble. The band on the forehead, soft plastic.
Long hair, obviously. Very nice paintjob on the hair, as always, by NECA!
He's wearing this shirt without sleeves, covered by not one, not two, but three ammo belts! Very equipped this Rambo!
The right arms is all covered by blood, to the hand.
Belt, the sheath for the knife, which works actually! I'll show you later! It's really easy obviously!
The jeans, with this wash, very well done!
And the shoes, very nicely painted and sculpted!
One thing that caught my attention immediately is the color of the skin. It looks like it's the actual plastic that is pink, so it's not painting applied later.
This gives the figure a much more realistic look, in addition, as you can see, there's this glossy finish that makes the figure look sweat.
And this gives the figure an even more realistic look! A really nice touch by NECA!
Let's take a look at the back of the figure.
A really nice figure! I must say, I wasn't very impressed watching the promotional pics, but in person it's another world!
Another look at the face up-close...really nice! Really really nice!
As for the articulation, head is on a ball joint, but can't move that much because of the long hair.
Arms can fully rotate and move in and out. Single joint at the elbows with full rotation. Hands are ball jointed.
Torso is ball jointed, but the range of motion is very limited.
Legs can move forward and back, in and out. This piece is soft plastic so it doesn't limit the articulation too much.
There's also rotation at the leg. Single jointed knees, with rotation, and articulation at the ankles where the feet can rotate and move up and down very slightly.
A very good articulation for a NECA figure!
Finally, let's take a look at the accessories!
We have this giant rifle, check out how big is compared with Rambo! Really huge!
With this strap, soft plastic. Very nicely detailed! The weapons made by NECA are little jewels!
I believe is a sniper rifle (it's actually a M-60 machine gun!), because it features these easels which can't be open unfortunately, it would have been a nice touch!
I guess they didn't make it because the mechanism would have been too fragile!
Very nicely detailed anyway!
Then we have the signature jungle knife, with jagged blade.
Very detailed, with this sort of rope on the handle.
The knife can be insterted in the sheath, very nice!
And then we have an interchangeable hand, sculpted to hold the jungle knife.
It's a right hand. The one that comes with the figure by default has the trigger finger so it's meant to hold the rifle.
In conclusion, I recommend this figure, especially if you're a Rambo fan! It's very nice, especially in action pose, the articulation is good and also the accessories are well made!
The price is the standard one for a 7" NECA figure (16-18 USD) and you can easily find it either at the comic shops and on the internet!
That being said, I'll see you on the next video! BYE!
