Hey everybody! Welcome to Steinhatchee Springs Wildlife Management Area.
This area is located in Dixie, Lafayette, and Taylor Counties, about 25 miles Southeast of Perry.
This is a very big area, there are several roads to go down and explore. And do some scouting for the hunting season.
There are multiple hunting seasons offered out here.
There's archery, muzzleloader, general gun, small game, wild hog dog season, spring turkey season, and a migratory bird season.
Certain dates during the spring turkey season do require a quota.
The same goes for muzzleloader and general gun. If you're hunting during the first nine days of general gun and also the muzzleloader season you do need a quota.
Other than that, you just need a wildlife management area permit.
So come on out and find a good spot!
This area includes a variety of habitats including floodplain forests, cypress swamps, hardwood hammocks, and pine plantations.
And it's home to a variety of wildlife species.
Of course there is hunting out here. But there's also a variety of other outdoor recreational activities.
Such as hiking, biking, and horseback riding.
Fishing and frogging is also an option out here.
This area is only open during daylight hours, so camping is not allowed unfortunately.
