Oil prices are up and showing no signs of coming down. Could an alternative be right
under our feet?
That's a nice little chunk of change for doing nothing.
See why natural gas is being called "the next gold."
For the first time we have a real ability to take control of our energy future.
Plus, Rebecca St. James on the day she's been waiting for her entire life.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to The 700 Club. I know you are like me. You'd like
to see some harmony in Washington. But unfortunately, our commander-in-chief was trained in the
Saul Alinsky school of politics. He has learned class warfare, but he knows very little about
business or about budgeting. He made an awful speech yesterday blasting the GOP, not presidential.
But, nevertheless, it's going to be a long, hard battle in Washington over the best way
to cut our massive deficits. And the future of our country is at stake, but unfortunately
the president just doesn't get it.
Well, the speech yesterday was a disappointment to lots of people. He said Washington can
cut spending, but taxes have to go up, too. Jennifer Wishon has the story.
If Washington doesn't steer off its current course, by the end of this decade just the
interest owed on America's debt will reach nearly $1 trillion.
So any serious plan to tackle our deficit will require us to put everything on the table.
Including tax hikes.
Mr. Obama wants to trim another $400 billion out of defense spending, trim budget-busters
Medicare and Medicaid by reducing the cost of health care, cut $770 billion out of domestic
spending. And if the president gets his way, upper-income Americans can say goodbye to
Bush-era tax cuts and some tax deductions.
I say that at a time when the tax burden on the wealthy is at its lowest level in half
a century, the most fortunate among us can afford to pay a little more. And here's the
thing. I believe that most wealthy Americans would agree with me.
It's the main point the president made that Republicans are latching on to, and the one
sure to define the differences between Democrats and Republicans in the coming weeks.
Raising taxes is not what we need right now, two days before tax day, especially while
we're trying to get job creators back into the game here.
The GOP says the president was too short on specifics. In fact, Texas Congressman Jeb
Hensarling says he wishes he'd gone to lunch instead of the speech.
This was not a speech designed for America to win the future. This was a speech designed
for the president to attempt to win reelection.
The deficit and debt will be major issues in the 2012 presidential race. And even though
the president has repeatedly talked about cutting spending, conservatives point out
that the deficit has exploded under his watch. The president dedicated a significant chunk
of his speech to tearing down the Republican plan House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan released
last week.
Rather than building bridges, he's poisoning wells.
Although Vice President Joe Biden had trouble staying awake, President Obama has appointed
him to serve as negotiator-in-chief. Biden will start meeting with members of Congress
next month. The White House hopes to have a deal on reducing deficit spending by the
end of June. Jennifer Wishon, CBN News, Washington.
Well, the Wall Street Journal isn't exactly a fan of the president.
But they said in an editorial, he said the speech was dishonest even by modern political
standards. It's just incredible. It was unbelievable.
Well, with us now for more on the budget is Alison Fraser.
She's a top budget analyst with the Heritage Foundation in Washington. She's been on a
number of television programs analyzing the budget. Alison, welcome to The 700 Club.
Thank you so much. It's nice to be here.
Do you comport with the Wall Street Journal editorial? What's your take on that speech?
I do. I actually had a special preview, an embargoed preview, of the basic policy contents
of his speech. And I was quite concerned about the policy content. And then when I listened
to the speech, I was really aghast. This was not, as Paul Ryan would say, the adult conversations
that Americans want to have about the future of the nation. It really was an attack on
conservative values, on the fine work that House Committee Chairman Paul Ryan has actually
done, and others who have done. It wasn't a serious conversation. It was really very
partisan, vitriolic speech that didn't do what so many Americans are calling on him
to do, which is to get into the game with a serious plan and demonstrate that he can
be the leader that the nation is needing. We did not see that. . I was very, very dismayed.
He grew up in ward politics in daily Chicago. He studied the writings of Saul Alinsky. Do
you think he knows anything about economics?
Well, you really have to wonder. Because when you read some of the things that he actually
said in this speech, on the one hand he wants to raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans.
But then, when he talks about his tax reform plan, he wants to cut taxes. Tax rates, at
any rate. Well, which is it? You can't have both. So it's not only does the president
really understand economics, that raising taxes is the worst thing you can do, because
we need strong economic growth to get out of the budget crisis. Does he understand economics,
and does he really even read the differences and the contradictions in the policies that
he's talking about?
How bad is the federal debt? You've been studying that. We've got a stated amount, but your
figures show something different.
Yes. So the budget is horrible. We're running about $1.5 trillion deficit this year. Our
public debt, or our total debt is about $14 trillion. These are huge numbers, right? But
on top of that there are liabilities of the federal government. And when we think about
Social Security and Medicare, those are long-term programs. They've been around for decades,
and they are massively underfunded. So when you factor in the long-term costs, the excess
costs, of these programs from their unaffordable benefits, we're really looking at a number
that's about $60 trillion of long-term debt. Now, those are big numbers. They don't really
mean anything to most Americans. So let me break it down like this. For every working
American today and their children, that's a tab of over $200,000 in debt, and it's growing
every single year.
Alison, last question. What does this mean if we don't get this runaway federal budget
under control? I think, what, 40 cents of every dollar is borrowed. Or is it more than
that now? But what does it mean for the future?
It's about 43 cents of every dollar that's being spent has to be borrowed this year.
And what it means for the future is really a dramatically lower standard of living, especially
for future generations, important for families as they're thinking about what their futures
are. That's why we need to really have an adult conversation about seriously tackling
spending, including entitlement programs for the elderly. What do we want America to look
like? Not only for our older generation, so they can live without fear and in freedom
of being in poverty, but also for our younger generations, so they have the economic freedom
and opportunity and the knowledge and strength that the American dream is going to continue
for them as it did for their parents and grandparents.
Alison Fraser, thank you for being with us. Alison Fraser, an analyst for the Heritage
Foundation. Tremendous. Thank you.
Thank you.
Ladies and gentlemen, I feel like Paul Revere shouting, "The British are coming." There's
a great crisis coming before us. We just don't see it. It's rolling up. Within two years,
unless we get this thing under control, the United States dollar is not going to be worth
much. We may be defaulting on some of our obligations. The Chinese and the Japanese
and the Europeans won't loan us any more money. Our standard of living is going to be dramatically
attacked. And we may have runaway hyperinflation like they had in the 20s in Germany. We just
don't know what's coming, but it could be horrible. And I'm trying to sound the alarm.
We haven't got the money to spend. It isn't a question about wouldn't it be nice to do
this. But they've got to stop this class warfare nonsense. We've got to come together as Americans
and say, "What is the most intelligent way to deal with Social Security? What's the most
intelligent way to deal with Medicare? What's the most intelligent way to do the budget."
Well, the president appointed a commission headed by a good guy named Alan Simpson who's
a former senator from Wyoming, and that commission came out with a report. Obama has ignored
his own commission. Now he wants to set up another commission. Well, it's time we get
serious about this, because your future is at stake! Listen to me! Do something. All
right. So much for that. Can I get off my soapbox?
You can get off your soapbox.
All right.
We're listening. It's so frustrating to people.
Yes.
I don't think people know what to do, Pat. I mean, we watch all of this. You hear people
like yourself talking about what the real issues are. But with all the politicking that's
going on, especially pre-election year . . . .
People have got to stop demanding stuff from the government for themselves and start saying,
as the Tea Party has, "We don't ask anything for us. We want it for their future to stop
spending." I've got 14 grandchildren. I've got one and a half great-grandchildren. And
you've got to look after them. They won't have the America we did.
It's back to Kennedy, "Ask not what America can do for you."
Yes. But that's the answer, "Ask not what your country can do for you," but we're all
asking, "What can we get out of this deal? What's my benefit, and where do I get it now?"
Okay. Wendy, enough of my soapbox. What you got next?
All right. Thanks, Pat. Well, an airport security pat-down of a six-year-old girl is raising
more questions about the methods used to screen passengers. The Drexel family was going through
security in the New Orleans airport, headed home to Kentucky from a vacation, when their
daughter was selected for a pat-down. Selena Drexel asked for her daughter to be rescreened
instead, but she was refused.
Not verbally, but in no uncertain terms, apparently the TSA supervisor is very skilled at non-verbal
communication, letting me know that there would be trouble if I caused a fuss. So the
Drexels shot video of the pat-down and posted on YouTube.
And afterward, she broke down with crying, because she really didn't understand what
she'd done wrong. And so we were really struggling with how do we explain this. Because we'd
really stressed to her, "It's not okay to touch or be touched here in these certain
places," and now she's been patted down in a public setting, in an airport.
The Drexel incident is the latest in a long line of complaints about the TSA's treatment
of children and other passengers. Homeland Security officials say they'll review the
way children are screened. But many Americans are asking how such random pat-downs help
prevent terrorist attacks, especially of little girls, Pat.
Wendy, the whole thing is outrageous. They've loaded up with a bunch of bureaucrats who
were not adequately trained. Sure, they've got some good people in there, but at the
same time they've got thousands who are not. And this nonsense that they're putting us
through. If we looked at the Israelis, they look at passengers by profile way in advance.
And a little six-year-old girl isn't going to blow up an airplane. I mean, the whole
thing is nonsense. But they do it, and they supposedly "keep us safe." That's not keeping
anybody safe. Wendy.
Pat, former Ivory Coast President Laurent Gbagbo is under house arrest. The new president
of the Ivory Coast, Alassane Ouattara, says Gbagbo and his wife will not be mistreated.
CBN's Gary Lane spoke with Gbagbo's daughter. She says she's concerned for her parents safety,
because Ouattara has abused them in the past.
In 1992, when my parents organized protests because the students had been abused on campus,
he arrested them. My mom was beaten, and she was basically left for dead. Then they were
all arrested, along with my brother. So this is like déjà vu for us. It's nothing new.
He is the same man. I ask everyone to believe that God has not said the last word and to
keep us in prayer.
And you can hear more of the interview by going to Gary Lane's blog, the Global Lane,
and that's at CBNNews.com.
Well, get ready for higher oil prices.
CNBC reports that Bank of America is predicting that Britain's oil could go to $140 next year
and may hit as high as $160. Since British oil has been more expensive than America's,
that would translate to about $120 to $140 for oil here in the US. And that could mean
average gas prices between $4 and $5 a gallon. Pat, how are Americans going to handle that?
Well, they'd better start getting bicycles. But I tell you what we're going to show, Wendy,
on this program is the answer to the imported oil problem. Again, the United States needs
to get together, and the clamor of the extreme environmentalists has got to be dealt with.
But at the same time, we must come up with an energy policy for our nation! We don't
have one! But something has come up. The United States is loaded with a resource that would
make us energy independent for the next hundred years. And we're going to tell you about what's
happening in Pennsylvania, a new gold rush.
A brand-new Gold Rush, and the buried treasure is natural gas.
We're entering a golden age of natural gas right now. For the first time we have a real
ability to take control of our energy future.
See what the natural gas boom could mean to your pocketbook, and meet some people who
are already striking it rich. Plus we want you to know our chat room is open for business
Just log on to CBN.com with your questions for Pat. We're going to Bring It Online later
on the program.

Do you take fish oil? There's an Omega-3 supplement that's better than regular fish oil.
Staying healthy, it's not easy. I exercise regularly and eat lots of fruits and vegetables.
I used to take a fish oil supplement too, but then I discovered something better than
regular fish oil. Arctic Wonder Omega-3 krill oil. It's from the makers of One-A-Day, so
I know I can trust it. The Omega-3's in Arctic Wonder, both support heart health and are
scientifically proven to be better absorbed than regular fish oil. You'd have to take
six of these fish oil soft gels to get the strength of just two Arctic Wonder soft gels.
The Arctic Wonder does not have an aftertaste.
They go down real easy.
Arctic Wonder isn't just good for your heart, it also supports healthy brain function, and
a health immune system.

Well, before we get into our next story, I want to announce that today Midnight Blue
will make an appearance.
Guest, on the show?
On this very show, in this very studio.
And he's here to . . . .
To announce the launch of his Facebook page.
And why not?
It's going to be called Blue's Notes. Everybody needs to be ready for it. I just want to let
you know it's coming. All right, so much for what's really important. Everyone across the
United States needs to reduce its dependence on foreign oil, especially when prices are
over $100 a barrel. So Americans are searching for new energy sources, and as Mark Martin
shows in this marvelous piece, that search is paying off with a natural gas boom in the
place where they first discovered oil, Pennsylvania.
It's been called the Gold Rush of the 21st century. Only this time the buried treasure
is natural gas. Enormous reserves are far below the American landscape. One of the places
where X marks the spot is Pennsylvania. This busy drill site south of Pittsburgh is just
one example of the natural gas boom taking place.
And this is an absolute blessing that we have been able to unlock this resource, and what
it can do is, for the first time, we have a real ability to take control of our energy
future.
Located about a mile and a half below the surface, the natural gas is in what's known
as the Marsalis Shale Formation. The huge rock formation is about the size of Greece
and runs underneath about two thirds of Pennsylvania as well as other Appalachian states. It's
estimated to hold enough natural gas to meet American energy needs for more than 15 years.
Our drillers can control this within inches.
Trillions of cubic feet of natural gas are believed to be trapped in the shale, but recent
advances in drilling technology are freeing the gas from its rock prison. Rig workers
drill down near the target rock and then over, horizontally into the Marcellus shale. This
is followed by hydraulic fracturing. Drillers pump massive amounts of water mixed with sand
and other fluids into the shale at high pressure to break up the rock and release the natural
gas which then flows up the well bore. (Canton Township, PA): You can see behind me dozens
of big steel pipes that make up the protective casing of the well. Around 2,000,000 pounds
of these types are lowered into the ground to keep the natural gas from escaping. Once
on the surface, the gas can be used for home heating, electricity, and powering cars. Matt
Pitzarella works for Range Resources, the first company to drill in the Marcellus Shale
Formation back in 2004. Seven years later, the company has more than a million net acres
in the region.
We're entering a golden age of natural gas right now. We were on a one-way ticket to
becoming just as dependent on liquefied natural gas from Russia as we are on imported oil
from the Middle East and other parts of the world. We now have a 200-year supply of natural
gas and growing in the United States of America.
Pennsylvania is a growing contributor to that supply with the number of wells jumping from
just four in 2005 to nearly 1,500 last year.
We've added in Pennsylvania alone 65,000 new jobs last year largely because of this industry.
We think we can create a quarter of a million jobs over the next 10 to 20 years.
More jobs draw in more people, boosting the state economy and the finances of individuals.
With these guys are outside.
Supply store owners like Paul Battista have tailored their inventories to meet the demands
of the natural gas industry, resulting in a boom in profits.
From '08 to '09, we probably had a 30-35 percent increase in our gross sales, and from '09
to '10, we had a 100 percent increase in our business. And so far, 2011, we're seeing another
100 percent increase over 2010.
The starting annual salary for a driller is around $80,000, and land owners who lease
their property for natural gas drilling can also receive a big payoff.
We got a signing bonus, $2,000, I believe, per acre. So that's a nice little chunk of
change for doing nothing.
And that's just the signing bonus. If the natural gas flows freely under a person's
land, the royalty checks can be quite lucrative.
I believe that there's enough money that's going to come out of this that my wife and
I can probably start seriously looking at retirement in a few years.
However, the Marcellus shale drilling boom is not below the surface when it comes to
controversy. In fact, its regulation is the subject of debate by lawmakers here at the
state capital here in Harrisburg. The natural gas industry is also on the radar of environmental
groups who are concerned about the impact of the drilling on the water, air, and landscape.
Environmentalists are concerned that toxic wastewater produced from the hydrofracking
isn't properly treated before it's dumped into rivers that supply drinking water. John
Quigley used to lead Pennsylvania's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
And what happens to the wastewater coming out of that process, which is some of the
most toxic water in the world, needs to be handled carefully, treated appropriately,
recycled a hundred percent if possible.
Recent testing in seven rivers by Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection showed
all samples at or below normal background levels of radioactivity. Air quality is also
a concern, as well as changes to the landscape and how they affect wildlife habitats.
I think Pennsylvania, as we talk today, is probably the strongest state regulator of
natural gas drilling. But I don't think our regulations are yet strong enough.
It's a new industry and new parts, so there's going to be a lot of questions. We have to
be transparent and accountable and do things the right way. Now there are a lot of concerns
that have been completely overblown or outright meant to mislead people.
Yet, in spite of the controversy there is common ground. Both environmental groups and
industry leaders are quick to share how natural gas burns more cleanly than coal and oil,
producing less emissions. Mark Martin, CBN News, Pennsylvania.
Well it's good news if you take advantage of it, and it's not just the Marsalis, that
goes all the way up into New York through Pennsylvania etc. It's a huge deposit, but
you got the Barnett which is probably the first one, even had coil and gas wells under
the City Hall in Fort Worth, Texas. I understand that it's right in the middle of the town.
Then you got the Hanesville down there in Louisiana, and you got the Eagle Ford shale
running through good parts of Texas, and there are other shales that are out there, and this
new technique, you go down let's say 5000 feet, and then you take a turn the drill stream
and do a horizontal run about another possibly 8-10,000 feet . . . .
Wow!
Then It takes about 1 million-200,000 pounds of sand and 50,000 barrels of water, and they
push it under great high pressure, and they call that "fracturing." It fracs the rock
formation and then releases the gas and or the oil. In a lot of these areas, is strictly
oil. It's huge what we've got in the United States.
So what are we waiting for?
Well, in Pennsylvania they're not waiting, and in the Barnett they're not waiting. North
Dakota has got one of the best profiles now of economic growth. They've got a surplus
in their treasury, a lot of wealthy North Dakota people because of the shales that are
there. So why not? The thing we've got to do is to convert automobiles to run on natural
gas. But it can be done, they can set the thing up. It's good news for America, but
let's not blow it. We've got a chance. We've had a way of destroying many other pieces
of good news, so let's get with this one. But congratulations to Pennsylvania and those
who own land in the Marsalis Shale.
Well, up next, love waits until marriage. That's been her mantra . . . .
. . . . and that wait is almost over for Rebecca St. James. The soon-to-be April bride joins
us live, after this.
Have you ever heard the expression "good as gold?" Well, gold is on everybody's minds

"Sometime in April." That's all Rebecca St. James is going to reveal about her wedding
date so far. We're going to try to get some details from her in just a minute, but first
here's a look at the recording artist who's been called "the reigning queen of contemporary
Christian music" and "the poster child for purity." Good for her.
Rebecca St. James keeps a busy schedule as one of the most recognized Christian artists
in the world. She's also a best-selling author and an advocate of faith and values on matters
ranging from purity to pro-life. Rebecca brought national attention to her message of purity
before marriage with her signature song, "Wait for me." 2011 is proving to be a milestone
year for Rebecca. She will release her ninth studio album, I will Praise You, with her
new label, Reunion Records. Rebecca will also be making plans for her wedding.
Well, welcome back to The 700 Club, Rebecca St. James. Congratulations.
Thank you Terry, thank you.
How exciting. Well, you don't want to give away the date, which I totally understand,
but it's just a couple of weeks away. I said, "She's here and she's getting married in a
couple of weeks?" Is life crazy right now?
It is crazy but beautiful.
That's wonderful.
Everything is coming together so smoothly. We really prayed just to see God's hand on
all the details. And this is actually a big part of it: my brother, 21 years old, is our
wedding coordinator. So he's actually taking care of all the details and were kind of casting
the vision on him . . . .
You're a trusting soul.
. . . . and there's still so much to do, but still he's on it.
Sometimes it's best when there's all of that to do just leave town.
Yes, and hand it off, so he's amazing.
And just arrive and know that a wedding is happening today. Tell us a little bit about
the event itself. Is it going to be small, large?
About 150, which is small considering I have a huge family. I'm the oldest of seven, and
24 cousins and lots of aunts and uncles. So some of them are coming from Australia, and
then people are coming from Nashville.
This is a very special moment, and I think you were such a inspiration to so many people
that you stood your ground and believed God for his best which wasn't necessarily a certainty
that it was going to be the answer to what you wanted. How did you stand with that for
the years that you really wanted this, but it wasn't happening?
It's a wonderful question and something that is challenging when hope is deferred really,
because I've longed to get married since I was a little girl, and as a teenager have
spoken very publicly about purity and about marriage and the importance of waiting. So
when you're waiting, waiting, waiting, it can be challenging. And I'm going to sing
a song little bit later from the new album, it's called "You make everything beautiful."
It talks about the fact that God redeems our pain, and so that loneliness whether you're
struggling with waiting for healing, or whether you're struggling with waiting for a husband
or just waiting for relief from certain pain in your life, it's challenging, and you need
to trust the heart of God. That's what God was teaching me in that time, "Trust me that
I've got you. I'm taking care of you." And then it's been redeemed in this very joyful
time.
And He redeems it even when the outcome isn't the hoped-for outcome.
It's true, He meets us in exactly the way that we know, and you know what, that's exactly
what I had to come to like years ago, was this place of going, "Lord even if you don't
provide this person, that I so long for is some hope for, I trust Your heart for me,
that You know some reason why this is not the best plan for me, for my life." So that
kind of freedom to just open your hands can go, "God, I trust you in a matter what." It's
a hard thing to do, but it's a very freeing place in to come to.
We're supposed to live with our hands opened.
Yes.
Aren't we? Both, release, and then in praise for the place that we're in.
Yep. And actually on the bridge in the song that'll sing in a bit, it says "Lifting open
hands to You my Savior. Beautify my soul. Help me to just trust You in the middle of
all of it."
To rest, to really, really rest. Your new release is called, I Will Praise You. Tell
me about what you want people to come away with after they've listened to it.
Well, I hope that they will really encounter God in a very real way, in His love, and then
just love Him back. When you're in love, it shows. This kind of joy that happens.
You're glowing.
Yes, people have been saying that. And you know, I just think when we're in love with
Jesus we just shine, and that's the message of this album, just encounter Him, experience
his love, and love Him back through worship.
And actually that shine is what makes us the "city on the hill," isn't it?
Yes, and beautiful to people that don't know God. They're intrigued because there's something
different about you.
They're watching; they're watching; they're watching. Well, you mentioned the song that
you're about to sing, in fact you wrote this for your wedding. Am I right about that. Is
this the one or no?
Well, it is in the ceremony. Actually two of my brothers are singing it, but I didn't
actually write it specifically for that. I wrote it really just out of kind of that whole
idea of surrendering to God, praising him in the middle of whatever happens in life.
I also speak to girls about beauty, and it's a song just saying, "God beautify my soul.
You make everything beautiful in Your time including my heart. Beautify me from the inside
out." Not being about external beauty but it being about Him beautifying us from the
soul level.
Beautify the stuff that matters.
Yes, exactly.

I was in a lot of pain. I remember feeling, "I don't want to have cancer. Why is this
happening?"
I went to pray with my 10-year-old. He said that he wished he had two hearts, because
one of them was breaking.
I had to reassure her a lot that I'm going to be okay. Things are going to be all right.
God is on our side.

Welcome to Washington for this CBN newsbreak. A Christian organization has appointed a commission
of church leaders to study tax-exempt rules for ministries.
The Evangelical Council for financial accountability formed the commission at the request of Iowa
Sen. Charles Grassley. Grassley conducted a three-year investigation into the financial
practices of several ministries but found no wrongdoing. The commission will study and
recommend financial standards for tax exempt ministries.
North Korea reportedly is holding an American arrested for missionary activity. A South
Korean newspaper reports that authorities arrested him about five months ago. The paper
says he is a Korean-American businessman from Southern California. No word on what kind
of missionary work is said to be involved in. The US State Department is calling on
North Korea to release the man on humanitarian grounds.

Tomorrow, on The 700 Club.
Quinton McCool is a husband. He's also the father, but for five years he never saw his
wife or daughters. Instead he lived on the streets with his best friend, ***.
Listening to the sweet voice of Quinton McCool sing old gospel songs, you'd never guess that
he spent half his life homeless and addicted to ***.
That drug, it took me down a path. It took me further than I wanted to go, and it kept
me far longer than I wanted to stay.
His long slide into life on the streets started after his 18-month-old son was accidently
shot and killed by his brother-in-law.
He just happened to be playing in the hallway, in the doorway when my brother-in-law dropped
the rifle and the rifle went off. I questioned God. I was just mad. I was angry, really,
really angry. I could not understand. I said, "God why did you take my son?" It's hard to
think about. It was just hard to live with the fact that my son was gone. I'd wake up
in the middle of the night sweating, and I could see my son running through the house
in my own mind.
He just couldn't accept the idea that he was gone, and it just took him down. He went down.
I was introduced to a drug called "***," and the feeling that it gave me was a hiding
feeling. I could hide my feelings, and I felt as if I was there all by myself, and my best
friend became ***.
Quinton and Cynthia had two more children and tried to maintain a happy home, but his
*** addiction consumed his life. Quinton and Cynthia separated. Before long he was
a homeless *** addict.
Sleeping outside, eating out of the dumpster. Many a night I lay awake crying out, cardboard
boxes sleeping in fields with a bunch of other people who didn't care about themselves. I
was stuck in that situation. There were periods in my life when I would wake up to the fact
that, "This ain't how you're supposed to be living. You've got a family. You've got children.
You've got two little daughters." And I just couldn't get out of it. That drug had me so
bound up that I couldn't even think straight no more. All I could do was just live, get
through the night, live another day to get another drug in me. That became my life.
He made a sign and became a panhandler by the interstate. When he got a little money,
he spent it all in one place.
I would take the money and go give it to the drug man. And when my drugs were up, I'd go
back out there and do it again. I would do this day in, day out, day in, day out for
a few years. And a sign said, "Work for food or money. God bless you. Have a blessed day."
It was like I was spitting in the face of God I was using His Name for my own selfish
needs.
After years of living on the streets, Quinton saw his reflection in a mirror. He was shocked
by what he saw.
I didn't smell good. I didn't look good. It was just a horrible sight. I can remember
that. Crazy thing how that drug can hide you from reality to where you really don't take
notice to how you really are. Something came to me in my mind saying, "You've got to get
out of here. You're going to die down here." I started remembering the sayings that my
mother told me about the Word of God and being obedient to the word of God. So I prayed to
God to get me out of this.
He called the pastor of Grace Centers of Hope, a Christian drug and recovery center he had
been to years earlier. Pastor Clark sent an old friend of Quinton's to pick him up.
I was so excited. I was like a little child who hadn't seen his father in a long time.
I remember I left my bags. I left my belongings, all my paraphernalia I tossed out the window.
I jumped up and grabbed him and hugged him. I was just spewing with tears, and all I could
say was, "Thank you Jesus! Thank you Jesus! You heard my cry." Because I thought He didn't
hear. I just didn't think He heard it. But He heard it and He sent help for me.
While Quinton was in the recovery program he says God freed him from his *** addiction,
and he reunited with his wife.
I look at my house, I mean even down to the key, having your own key to your door. I mean
greeting your wife, hugging your wife, your wife smiling now.
God is wonderful. He just turned everything around in our life. And I know if He can do
it for me, He can do it for anybody.
So I have wonderful days now. I have glorious days; I've been blessed to sing back with
the Men of Grace. We go out and we sing the testimony, and we tell the testimony. Our
job is to let folks know what God has done for us, He can do for you, too.
I prayed to God, and I said to God, "You come get me, and I'm going to serve You for the
rest of my days, for the rest of my days, no matter what." I still have trials and tribulations.
Things aren't perfect as I said, but I do know one thing, My God is real, my God is
real. (Singing with Quartet): "My God is real . . . ."
It's a touching story. When you read the Bible, you see where God created man, created human
beings. And the Bible says, "He gave him dominion." He gave him dominion over the animals, and
He gave him dominion over the plants, and He said, "This garden you cultivate, but you're
in charge. You have dominion." Isn't it amazing? What is ***? It's a poppy. It's the powder
that comes from an *** poppy. What is ***? Well, that's another plant. What is marijuana?
It is a leafy plant. What is tobacco? It is another plant. What is whiskey, alcohol? Well,
it's the distillation of rotted corn, and barley and hops, things like that. It all
comes from vegetables. We're supposed to have dominion, and yet we have allowed plants and
vegetables to ruin our lives, to rule over us and to have dominion over us. God doesn't
intend that. Some of you are listening to me right now. God wants you to have dominion.
He wants you to be his son and to walk proud on this earth, and to put under your feet
that over which He has given you dominion. Don't be ruled by vegetables. Don't be a slave
to plants! You've got a nicotine addiction, You're an alcoholic. You've got a drug problem,
***, marijuana, ***. God wants to set you free, because He has given you dominion,
and I'd like today for you to reach out and take the dominion that is yours. Whatever
the thing that has grabbed you, God wants you to reign and rule with Him. So right now,
I want you to renounce this and come before the Lord and say, "I am Your child." Pray
with me right now. Bow your head. Don't be ashamed. Wherever you are, yes, God can save
you however far you've gone. Pray these words, "Jesus." So, pray it. "Jesus, I believe, Lord,
that You died to break the chains that bound me and to give me freedom. I ask You to forgive
me that I have surrendered my freedom to plants and vegetables. I ask You to forgive me, Lord,
that I have given up my dominion. But I know in Christ I can reign and rule with You as
a child of God. So, Lord, I ask you, come into my heart. Live Your life in me, and from
this moment on, I will live for You, and I will serve You, in Jesus' name, thank you."
Now, for those who prayed with me, I want to do something to help you.
I've got something that is called "A New Day." It will tell you what you've just done, help
you start your Christian life. There's a whole lot of things in here.
It's a power-packed CD. I'll give it to you free, but I want you to call and say, "Listen,
I prayed with Pat just then. I gave my heart to Jesus." 1-800-759-0700. Call quickly. Somebody
is here who cares about you and the good news is you say, "I am free! I am taking dominion
that God Almighty has given me." Terry.

Blue's very own Facebook page.
There's Blue. His own page!
Blue, who knew, buddy?
Hey, who knew, Blue?
Hi! Come here. Come see me.
He wants to go to you. He likes girls.
Oh, yes.
Isn't he sweet?
He's a beauty, Pat.
Yeah. Oh he's a lovely dog.
He's just darling. He really, really is.
Alright, sweetie, sit down. Sit Blue.
Hey buddy. You gonna sit? Answer some questions here, Blue.
Yes, he'll sit. Sit Blue.
We've got a few for you.
He isn't paying attention.
Hi. Yes, I know.
He's more listening to you.
Okay, Pat. This first question is from Jeanette. She says, "Is it okay for a Christian to say,
‘Oh my Lord' or ‘Oh my God?' Isn't that taking His name in vain?"
I sort of think it is. I think we ought to stop that. You know, you hear that on television
all the time, "Oh my God." You know, you hear it all the time.
Yeah, and to say it in vain means to say it without meaning it, right?
Well, "Thou shall not take the name of the Lord. It's Yahweh, Jehovah. (To Blue): What
do you want?
Come here, Blue. Come here, baby.
No. Sit. Behave yourself.
There. There you go. He said, "I wanted my best shot."
Alright. You look pretty. Alright, but I just think we shouldn't do that. Let's use some
other way of expression.
I agree.
Okay.
Okay, earlier we had a story about the young girl who was screened by airport security.
Well, Mark says, "Yes, it's ridiculous the TSA screens 7-year-olds, but if we don't,
wouldn't that encourage the terrorists to use them as suicide bombers?"
Not really. I mean, come on. We need to profile people. You know, a couple coming off vacation
in Florida or New Orleans, or something like that, is going to carry a bomb and try to
blow up someplace? No way!
Yeah.
No way!
And, you know, some of the screening ought to be able to be done by those machines, right?
I thought that was the purpose of them.
Well, not even that. I mean, you look at the Israelis. What do you want?
See, he agrees. He's saying, "Let the machine do it."
You want to go see? Alright. I think he wants to go see . . .
Go see Uncle Chris over there.
Yeah, go see Chris. Go on.
There he goes.
Okay.
Okay, this is Marti, who says, "Recently my daughter got her bellybutton pierced. Is this
wrong? Should I say something?" Too late now.
You get to the point about piercing. Don't do cuttings; don't pierce yourself; don't
do tattoos. It's all in the Old Testament. Read it. We shouldn't mar our bodies. These
are the temples of the Holy Spirit!
Yeah. I think people today don't see that as marring. They've got all those pretty jeweled
little gadgets and things.
Are you kidding? Pretty jewels, my Aunt Minnie. Okay. What else?
Okay. Nan says, "I was rear-ended a year ago by someone from my church. I love them and
don't want to harm their finances, but I need to settle with the insurance company. What
should I do?"
Well, everybody who drives a car, at least in most states, they have to have insurance.
You have to show you're covered, because the state wants to protect innocent people like
you. So, the chances are that your church member has an insurance policy and you need
to have somebody levy against the insurance company. That's what they're there for. That's
why we all pay insurance.
Exactly. That's the reason we pay it.
Alright.
Well, Penny asks, "I'm 35 years old. I've been robbed at knifepoint. I tore my calf
muscle. I have three abscessed teeth. My mother and brother are both dying. Where is God?"
Penny, I think you've had a rough time, but I don't think God's responsible for the fact
that you tore a calf muscle. But, I do believe that you need a positive confession. I know
this sounds something of—but, "A man shall eat good by the fruit of his lips." And you
need to begin, say, "In God, I am going to overcome these problems. I will take authority.
I will have victory. I confess victory. In your Spirit, you need to expect victory.
That's such a hard thing to learn, isn't it? That when you're going through something where
it just seems like one shot comes against you after another.
Well, that's the time to do it.
It is the time.
Because you'll never break that cycle of oppression unless you do that.
Well, and it's easy to praise when things are going well. It's at a point like this
where we're really challenged.
That's the time to pray and praise. Absolutely.
I agree. Okay, this is Christie, who says, "How can I hear God speak to me? I want to
hear Him, but all I hear is what my mind is saying to me."
The Bible says, "Be still and know that I am God." You're kind of in a hurry. You need
to spend time in the Word. God will speak to you out of the Word, and as you meditate
on Him, He will begin to reveal Himself to you. But, take your time. You've got to go
off in a place that's quiet, read the Bible, think about the Lord, talk to Him quietly,
and you'll be amazed. As a matter of fact, what comes into your mind may well be from
the Holy Spirit. Just because you think it's your mind—I mean, the Holy Spirit can take
control of your mind.
You know, a really good way I think to start that is by journaling where you write down
your prayer to God; then you're quiet with him; and then write down what you feel He
is saying back to you. I mean, honestly, don't you feel like when you go back and read that,
you think, "I couldn't have come up with that."?
That's exactly right. You'll be amazed what God shows you.
It's the Lord.
Alright.
This is Cheryl, who says, "I recently learned that my brother is cheating on my sister-in-law.
I told him to stop, but he won't. Do I have an obligation to tell my sister-in-law?"
You know, the question of what gets told and what doesn't get told, we have these questions
all of the time, because it arises in families. What do you think? I really don't think that
you have an obligation to tell your sister-in-law that your brother is cheating on her.
Here's the catch in that, though, when it's family like that, is what if she says to her
afterwards, "Did you know this was going on?" I mean, it puts the person in the family in
a very awkward position.
Oh, I just think in a thing like that, there are times that you need to tell somebody.
There are definite times you need to tell. If somebody is committing a crime, they're
doing something wrong, especially if the person is in authority. But you're on a level here.
Yeah. You need a word from the Lord on that one.
You need a word. You do, indeed. Well, speaking of a word, here's I Corinthians 16 . . . .
. . . . "Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave and be strong. Let all that you do be
done with love." Bye, bye.
Here at CBN, we see amazing things happen when we stand together.
That's why we want to say thank you to the thousands of you . . . .
. . . . who recently pledged to join The 700 Club.
Your monthly gift makes it possible to bring crucial help to those who need it most.
You help heal the sick, feed the hungry . . . .
. . . . and preach the Gospel across America and throughout the world.
You've brought health and hope to people in desperate need.
And changed their lives forever.
Just like you did for Manage and his friends in Nepal. Ménage invited his Hindu friends
to watch CBN programs. And he and 19 of his friends accepted Jesus as their savior. Then
you sent them Bibles. For some this was the first gift they had ever received. Now they're
telling others about what Jesus did for them because you gave.
So please watch for this mailing and send in your pledge. This year millions will know
. . . .
The love and saving power of Jesus Christ.
And that only happens, because you were there.
