Education costs are rising
but, at San Diego State, we're taking a major step to
save students money.
Beginning today, the SDSU Bookstore is making
an extraordinary shift in focus,
from selling textbooks to renting them.
It's a move that could save our students and their families more than
two million dollars, in out-of-pocket costs, over the next few weeks.
San Diego States Bookstore is already the nation's leader in providing
digital textbooks through our partner, CourseSmart.
Now we want to be the leader in helping students save money
through book rental.
Of course, renting may not be right for every student or every class,
so books are still for sale.
But as you can see, the more expensive the book, the more renting can save you.
And there are other benefits to renting as well.
Lots of other places rent books, but the campus bookstore is the only place you
can rent your books and take them with you today.
So you'll be ready when classes start.
You can rent virtually any book that costs twenty-five dollars or more.
I saved almost two hundred dollars. And when you rent from the SDSU Bookstore
you help support all kinds of programs that benefit students.
You'll help the planet too.
Renting your books is more sustainable because they'll be used
again by someone else.
So, you can be sustainable and save money.
We estimate that almost every student can save between one and two
hundred dollars this semester by renting rather than buying.
To see how much you can save just go to "My Booklist"
in the SDSU WebPortal.
Have a great semester.
