The recovery time for minimally invasive laparoscopic hysterectomies or total laparoscopic hysterectomies
or laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomies or total hysterectomy the patient will usually
start feeling back to normal depending on the patient within four days or two weeks.
The most important is to know and the most important thing for the patient to realize
is that they did just have major surgery and even if they're feeling like they didn't have
surgery, they still have to continue their post operative precautions. 99 percent of
the time patients will be fully recovered and ready to run a marathon within six weeks.
They usually can go back to work in one or two weeks. The vaginal hysterectomy also is
same recuperation time is the same as the laparoscopic technique as opposed to doing
an abdominal hysterectomy where a bigger incision is required in the abdomen and patients have
more discomfort for several weeks after they've had surgery. And all the patients with minimally
invasive laparoscopic technique regardless of what technique we're using 99 percent of
my patients leave for home the same day of surgery following one to three hours of observation
at the hospital or at the surgical Center suite in the Brignoni Cosmetogynecology Center
and they go home. I usually see patients back at six weeks visit if they have any problems
or concerns they could come and see me at any time.
