The first time I photographed Kelly was an accidental shoot! She had come along with
her mum to watch a fashion portfolio I was shooting at Brisbane's Southbank. Lights,
cameras and crew were ready to roll when the unforgivable happened. The models from the
agency we had contracted didn't show! Not wanting to waste the setup and location, I
cast around and my eyes stopped on Kelly. From that first shoot at 13 I was lucky enough
to photograph Kelly at ages 15. 17, 19 and 21. She has over the years been represented
by one of the countries most respected agencies and been a feature model at event s like fashion
week. Watching her on a recent shoot that we had
coaching the less experienced girls on set through ways to pose and breathe while in
front of the camera was brilliant. A trained model doesn't just look the part, they act
the part. Formal model training not only teaches models
how to take care of themselves away from the shoot but also how to conduct themselves with
other professionals. Modeling is a job, you need more than natural good looks and confidence.
Modeling requires a skill set that needs to be developed. Trained models hit the ground
running from the first shot. They are business like on set and appreciate that time is money.
Trained models require little direction as they are familiar with the dos and don'ts
of posing, they know the correct way to take care of and wear the garments that they are
modeling. More of our work can be viewed at stevemcmarson.com.au
