I’m Elizabeth Howe and I’m studying Events Management. When I came to the open day I
just felt like it had a friendly atmosphere and I knew that it was the university for
me. The facilities are excellent, especially in my course. We’ve got a lot of equipment
that we can use in house for events. Because it’s quite a
small course as well, it’s more personal with your tutors. They know your name in the
first week when you start. They always support you in everything that you do and they always
encourage you to do extra as well, it's not just going to your lecture, they
tell you what to do and that’s it. They’ll encourage you to volunteer, get involved in
different events. I’m currently on my placement now, me and three other students have set
up as own events management company called EMVA,
which is Events Management and Volunteering Agency. Recently, we’ve done a couple of
conferences. We did the Audience with Theo Paphitis last month. Last week we did the
HS2 conference, which was quite a big scale event for the university and
for us to organise as well. And we’ve also done award ceremonies, we’ve volunteered
at food and drink festivals. Events Management at Huddersfield is the best course that you
could choose. It’s been a life changing experience
and I wouldn’t change it for the world really, and I never imagined it to be like this at
all. I don’t want to leave.
