If you own a tree or shrub, I have some good news and some bad news. Bad news first? You
also own insects, and some of them are downright nasty, with only the worst of intentions for
your plants. The good news is that Ortho Tree & Shrub Insect Control Granules are an easy
and effective way to kill aphids, borers, mealybugs, root weevils, leaf beetles, leaf
miners, scale, whiteflies and the tree-destroying Emerald Ash Borer, just to name a few.
The best time to apply the granules is the first time you see one of the listed bugs.
It can be used on newly planted or established trees and shrubs, in the ground or in containers.
The granules are systemic, which means the product is taken up by the roots and distributed
throughout the plant, so after applying the granules, just water them in, and that's it.
Ortho Tree & Shrub Control Granules will also kill the Emerald Ash Borer, but you need to
treat early to save your tree.
This is not a harmless bug. It WILL kill your Ash tree.
So how do you know if your trees have been infested? Well, as their name suggests, the
Emerald Ash Borers bore through the trunk of an Ash tree, leaving a D-shaped hole in
the bark when they emerge as a metallic-looking beetle in late spring.
Another way to tell if your trees are infested is to inspect the canopy. Infested trees start
to thin above the areas of infestation, and since borers destroy the plant tissues that
help move water and nutrients to the leaves, a dying canopy is a sure sign your tree is
in trouble.
Even if you don't see any damage to your Ash trees, once Emerald Ash Borers have been detected
within 15 miles of your property, or if your county has already been quarantined, you can
apply Ortho Tree & Shrub Insect Control Granules preventatively.
Don't let insects kill your shrubs and trees. Control them with Ortho Tree & Shrub Insect
Control Granules, It’s part of the Ortho family of tree & shrub solutions, backed by
