As we countdown to the Rugby World Cup
it's expected that the competition will provide economic opportunities
for NZ businesses.
Maori tourism hopes to prosper from these opportunities.
Not just economically but in a sense where children will have chance
to experience a world renowned event for the first time in NZ.
This cup will draw thousands to NZ
including customers for Potiki Adventures.
The competition will attracts many from all over the world
including media coverage,
who Potiki Adventures have targeted as customers.
Potiki Adventures is known for its Auckland based tours,
but throughout the competition they will be hosting tourists as well.
They can accommodate one person on a marae for $400 a night.
But what they want to provide is good Maori hospitality.
*** Garratt from Maori Sports Awards Trust
sees this as an opportunity for Maori youth.
They and Te Kura Kaupapa Maori are organising a sports day
where Maori schools around Auckland get to meet with the 20 rugby teams.
Each school will host one team.
They must research the history of that country,
but they are looking to raise $100,00 for the project.
