This right here is the "Nationwide Apartment", it also has a gym.
Coming into this NASCAR season, I am the, physically, healthiest I've been.
And the most out of shape I've ever been in my entire life.
So we're starting from actual zero here.
You're in charge of this place.
Yes, we have a lot of fun up here, but we also work hard.
I think we've got a little something to work with here so--
We've got a lot of broken to work with but we'll get there--

The Daytona 500, Every racer wants to win that.

I'm here at pit practice day at Roush,
and my car is still getting the seat
and everything fitted because I'm a little taller than the other guys.
But jumping into Ricky's cup car.
They want you to be going 90mph by the time you reach your pit stop,
and to be able to lock it down,
stopping exactly on the spot you're supposed to stop.
The closer you are to where their board is,
the absolute faster the guys can get to the car.

[Chad Norris Crew Chief] When I heard that Travis Pastrana
was coming to Roush Fenway,
I was really excited to be a part of this program,
he wants to be the best there is at it.
Like he has been at everything else he's done.
We've just got to be able to work together
get on the same page and get our language together,
so we can make sure our cars are the best that they can be for race time.
[Chad] So Travis called Jack, and really tried to set in stone,
about what he wanted to do here, they've come to an agreement
about how serious Travis really was, about winning races.
[Jack] Roush Fenway Racing has been around for over 40 years.
We have managed to bring forward the careers
of a lot of very successful, very well known drivers.

I think, in all, there have been 17 drivers that have won in races.
Well I was really honoured when Travis reached out to us
and asked us if we would consider running a Nationwide car.
Travis has been successful in so many
different forms of motor sport, and sports entertainment.
Stock car racing, and in particular Nationwide racing,
is extremely competitive. It is at least as competitive
as anything that Travis has ever done.

Such an honor to be on this team, and to be with these guys,
and definitely, we've had some success in other things,
but it doesn't mean anything coming over here,
and definitely, I hope to live up to these expectations.

[Travis] Just about to start the season. First day test with Roush Racing.
I'm not even in the same area code right now, as I need to be.
Trevor goes, "try letting off the brake."

Well you know, brakes are made to slow you down so,
when we were getting roaming charges for calling you back there,
I thought you had to do something to speed up a little bit.
Thanks, I appreciate it!
But you're good man, you've picked up a lot.
[Travis] Trevor has been really awesome to share a lot of his information,
then to come out here with me to actually show me physically, to get schooled here.
You can just roll this really light brake,
and then if you need to slow down more, you can.
But this is where you need to be slowed down by, it's here, not back there.
[Travis] Use less brake, turn the wheel when you want to turn.
- Easy as that.
- Piece of cake.
[Travis] Out here, just got done the first test,
immensely physically exhausted,
but had so much fun. Learned a lot.
[Travis] We're making a statement, we're coming up, our car is loud,
our team is loud.
And I'm ready for it man. We've got Daytona starting next week,
and if we don't do well, we're going to look like idiots.
We've got to come out here and do well, and you know what, by the end of this year
we're going to figure it out.

I got my first motorcycle win here, in Supercross at Daytona.
I raced my first 24 hour race here at the Daytona 24 hour,
and to be a part of it is pretty damn cool.

I'm still so nervous because we got the race coming up
and everything is about drafting, it's about who you're teaming up with,
it's about partnerships. And then I've got to learn on the fly how to race.

Alright, this is one of my goals accomplished, top ten.
You ran every lap.
[Travis] Top ten, ran every lap. Kind of crashed.
We went right up to the front, and then all of a sudden
Anett and Dillon got tangled, they took out Kasey Kahne
who was right behind me. They hit the wall so fast
like I've never seen. They were on my left then they were in the wall and gone.
