Hello, this is Bonnie from Good Earth Spa
Today, I'm going to demonstrate how to make luxurious moisturizing bath bomb fizzies.
A reaction occurs between citric and sodium bicarbonate
also called baking soda, creating carbon dioxide bubbles, water and sodium citrate. This reaction also dissolves our added botanicals such as moisturizing oils or butters, salts, scents and fun colorants.
Here are the ingredients
Sodium Bicarbonate
also called Baking Soda. Citric Acid. Starch.
A moisturizing oil or butter of your choice.
I'm using Unrefined Organic Shea Butter.
and salts. You can use Epsom salts or other salts
such as Pink Himalayan sea salts
We need molds to make bath bombs. This is an aluminum bird mold.
This is a plastic smiley face candle mold.
This is a repurposed cat food container that I am going to be using as a bath bomb mold.
This is a more advanced two piece mold.
I like using this mixer with a flexible bowl scraping blade. You can also use a bowl and whisk or knead with your hands.
Add the following ingredients to your mixing bowl.
Sodium Bicarbonate, also called baking soda. Starch..
Here are the salts.
This is Epsom Salt. In my next bath I'm going to be using..
Pink Himalayan Sea Salts.
Add your moisturizing oils or melted butters.
fragrance and or essential oil
and then add your colors and botanicals
I'm using some powdered red sandalwood
which is great for skin.
Now, let's start mixing!
Use your mixer
Or, use a bowl and a whisk or spatula.
Or, just use your hands.
when you reach the desired consistency
use your one piece mold. Pack it into the mold and make sure it's even and firmly packed. Then carefully remove it from the mold.
They'll be fragile to start off but get harder as they sit and dry.
Getting your consistency and knowing how hard to pack your material takes a little bit of practice.
The two part mold is a little more tricky. Pack each side half full, then overfill the rest with loose unpacked material. Spritz them with witch hazel and squish them together.
Let your bath fizzies sit for a day or so before packaging or using
