Today I've got the Samsung 100 Series Digital Camera.
Which is great for all you beginners in the digital camera category
or klutzes just like me, and you destroy things on a regular basis.
This camera's great for that. You can afford it,
it's simple to use, it's durable and when it's not
you can actually replace it for a very, very cost effective solution
for your digital imaging.
If you look at the front of your camera,
it shows your the different features in this little thing.
You have a 10.2 megapixel photoquality.
You have a 2.5" intelligent LCD screen
and it's got an ISO of 1600. It's a 3.0x optical zoom,
with 9MB of Flash memory.
It's got features like autoface detection and red-eye reduction,
beauty shot. It also has DIS technology.
Which is what we do when we have shaky hands and we're trying to take pictures.
It actually stabilizes the image that it's trying to capture
before it captures it, so you're not shaky and it's not blurry.
It comes out super clear. The battery is rechargeable
and you can record AVI movies with WAV sound files.
If we take a little tour here, let's do a physical overview.
We've got our lens up here in the front with a flash button.
This is the indicator button, telling your subject to be ready the picture is coming.
Up on top you have your power button.
And your shutter button, this is what you actually take the pictures with.
You point and click.
This is where your actual holder will go.
If you bring it to the back you have your widescreen and telephoto.
So this is zoom in and zoom out.
Your menu button, the display functions.
These are pretty much the functions that you would use on a regular basis
so they made it very easy for you to touch and go.
Then you have your playback button, so you can check out
when you take a picture, what it looks like.
And then the function button.
So let's get started with our features here.
Here in our menu features, you can actually go back forth,
you can select the size of a movie, if you want to record a movie.
You just press on over, go down, and select OK.
And you've got a 640 or a 320 which is great.
It tells you right there what it's for. You've got 640x480,
standard size for general TV output. And then a 320x240,
for uploading to the web. So it's right there, super easy, super simple.
If we go back, we can record our movie, and we can play it back.
So let's go here, we play back our movie.
Oh wow... That's lovely.
Let's play, and... Voila!
Anyway, we go back to our menu,
and you go down, you have a frame rate.
Which is a more advanced feature, and that you can probably go online
or in the user manual and find out what frame rate does.
If you go down to sound, it's not really... I mean, if you want hear your clicker go
you can totally do that. That's all you.
The display, you can do the diferent language and function descriptions.
You can set for whatever language you want.
You have functions, the start image, display brightness, which is always on auto.
That's always a good thing to have with digital cameras,
and if you're just starting, make sure you have stuff on auto.
So you get used to what things are supposed to look like
when you do fumble around with some of the features.
You go back to your menu and we go down to the settings.
And you have your date and time zone.
If we go back up here to mode we can do the different features like
the photo help guide, which I've already shown you,
and the programming... The scene mode! Let's do scene mode.
If you go to scene mode, you have beauty shot.
Beauty shots are for those vain and self... I guess... what?
Self centered people. But that's a good thing, not a bad thing.
If you're concerned about blemishes and wrinkles coming out
or if you have really high glare off your forehead and you're outside.
This is a great little feature to put onto your camera
so that you can, just balance out whatever your face is.
And it also has smile detections, so that's also a nice feature.
You have night shot so you can take your image at night
with the lowest settings possible.
And you get a clear picture, as opposed to grainy and not so clear.
If you go back to the menu. We go down. Mode. The scenes.
We go to portrait, which again, it's self explanitory, the portrait captures your face.
The camera actually detects. This camera has a brain folks. This camera can take pictures.
Children! We all know how crazy and hyper children can be
when they run around everywhere.
And this is great for that feature because it has the image stabilizer
and it will control the shot, even if your toddler is climbing the walls
and spilling over the pot of pasta.
If you go to landscape mode, it's great because it uses the light's natural lighting.
The natural colors that nature offers us, with the landscape mode.
Close up, again, is what adjusts so you don't have crazy features on your face
and you actually look pretty sharp when you take the close ups.
Sunset, dawn, backlight, fireworks! This is actually kind of cool.
I tried this feature last year, Fourth of July.
Every fireworks picture that I took came out super clear.
I fascinated some seven year-olds who thought that was the coolest thing
that I was able to take pictures of fireworks.
So, there you go.
Beach and snow, that's all outdoors.
It's sunny days and bright, bright backdrops.
That's a little tour of the features that you can set
and the scenes that you can set for your camera.
If you go back, this is our menu screen.
Don't forget, you have your display settings and everything here.
So, the Samsung SL 102. The 100 series.
It comes in all different colors. I personally like the pink one.
Because, you know... Girls have got to take over!
And, that's what I'm doing. We're doing pink Samsung,
we have violet gray here, and then black and silver.
You can check this out and pick it up. Actually now is a great time for summer
if you're doing pool parties and things.
