That shot looks like it's about three feet.
This is a 35 miniature putter.
So it's about 37 inches away from the hole.
As a golf pro, you would take that just about every time.
Thank you. Thank you very much.
The thing I love about golf is, it's up to me.
There are no excuses, and so you're always accountable
to yourself. And I love that accountability.
It really is that way in life.
You need to be accountable for everything that you do,
and golf really shows that individuality
because it's such an individual game.
It will be close! Yo! Look here! All right!
I was a professional golfer. It's what I've done for 16 years,
going around the country, playing golf on the senior team,
as they call it now. And it was wonderful.
Very, very busy.
Six, seven days a week of playing golf, you know, tournament golf.
That was a busy time.
This is really a busy time.
We start at 6:00 a.m.,
and my wife and I go out for a walk.
We walk for an hour, three, four miles,
come right home, and start breakfast.
We typically go to the office around 9:00 and work
with the missionaries, office staff, and mission presidency.
Some media people we meet with, community members.
We deal with many, many people,
and we do it with a smile on our face. We love it.
We have 145 missionaries.
They give up two years of their life to come out and serve.
We go from early morning until about 10:30 at night.
It's 24/7. There is no time out.
The busiest I've ever been in my life.
My wife and I have looked forward to this opportunity
for many, many years and preparing for it.
But we have left golf to serve the Church.
We wanted to volunteer to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.
It is so much fun to see people change their life and heart.
So that's why I'm here.
I've been teaching golf all my life
or playing it all my life, and basically,
it's just like teaching the gospel.
You see it, you feel it, and you trust it.
If you don't pay the price in anything you do,
you're not going to succeed as well as you might have.
Oh, I love golf and always will.
I'll cherish it. I mean, that's a game for a lifetime.
But the gospel is forever.
I'm a professional golfer. I'm a mission president.
I'm 67 years old and can still hit a ball 300 yards.
My name is Bruce Summerhays, and I am a Mormon.
