I suggest that you use headphones for this video so you can clearly listen to the low
frequencies
So the Tom Drum I want to make sounds something like this
I'm going to start from a basic tone
And I'm going to use the sine waveform
The amplitude's envelope it's pretty simple
Starts right away
And goes down to zero in a little over half a second
The pitch should be low
And I'm going to adjust the gain
So already that could be used as a Tom Drum
But I'm going to add a couple more things
First I'm going to make a very simple pitch envelope
That starts here
And goes down to here
Now I'm going to add noise with the noise envelope
Which is pretty similar to the amplitude's envelope
And I'm going to adjust the level of the noise
Now I'm going to make the tune of the oscillator respond to velocity by setting a range here
So this notes have high velocity
And this one has low velocity, and now the drum responds to that
Lastly I'm going to add a second oscillator, an octave higher, and also responds to velocity
So that's a pretty good Tom Drum sound and of course you can keep playing with it
You could change the pitch envelope
Or change the waveform
And so on
So that's it for this video, thanks for watching, and I hope you learned something. Did you?
