Hi, everyone. It's Alejandra. And I just got back from the Dollar Store. I thought it would
be a fun video idea to go to the Dollar Store and pick up some organizing products that
only cost a dollar and just show you that getting organized doesn't have to be expensive.
Like a lot of people believe that, "Oh, if I want to get organized or I want to stay
organized; I got to spend a lot of money."
And yes, there are products that are expensive like shelving is expensive, furniture with
storage is expensive, even like small organizing products like the Lazy Susan in a pantry or
a tiered shelf in a pantry is expensive. Like there are a lot of products that are expensive
and if you want the really good ones that spin nicely or like they're made of stainless
steel, you're going to have to spend a little bit more money.
But you can find products that are a dollar or that fit a small budget. So the point of
this video is to tell you that if you just shop around and you get creative, you can
find stuff to meet any budget if you're looking to get organized.
So that said, I'm going to show you all the stuff I found at Dollar Tree that I found
this weekend while shopping. OK. So the first thing I found is the shoebox. And if you know
me, if you've seen my home tour video, you know that I use shoeboxes for a lot of the
spaces inside my house. Shoeboxes are great to organize like small things not just shoes.
You could do it for car supplies, medications, makeup, toys, like all kinds of stuff.
And so, this shoebox was a dollar and it came in I think it was like maybe three or four
different lid colors like they have purple, they have red, they have blue, and then they
have clear so a dollar. If you buy a shoebox at some of the other retail stores, they're
like a dollar fifty or even two dollars and if you buy 20 shoeboxes, that extra fifty
cents or that extra dollar really adds up fast. It has a good lid that clips when it's
closed. Do you hear that? It clicked. So the lid doesn't fall off so totally worth a dollar.
OK. So the next thing I found are these stackable organizers that come in really bright colors.
So I found blue, red, and then there was a yellow one also. And when I saw these, I immediately
thought of organizing kid's toys like small cars, small trucks, small blocks, anything
small that's a toy would work really well in here.
You could probably also do crafts supplies or school suppliers like markers, pencils,
pens. They're a good size and they stack nicely so when I turn it sideways, it's not going
to like fall over, whatever. And it also has a nice flat surface right here so you can
put a label right here or put a picture label on the very front right here. So, great find
for a dollar.
OK. So the next thing I found are these containers and they came in three sizes. This was the
small, this was the medium, and then there was a larger size. And when I saw them, I
immediately thought of organizing dry goods like flour, sugar, salt, brown sugar. They
aren't airtight, which is the only thing about that. But they have a nice tight lid and for
a dollar like it's not bad.
Normal airtight containers are usually like $5 to $10 a piece and this was a dollar. So
you could totally store like all of your flour, all of your sugar inside of this. And it has
a nice handle on the back so you could just fetch on the shelf, grab it, and take it off.
And then you can put your label on the very front. So a dollar, totally reasonable.
OK. So the next thing I found was this little container similar to this container that I
just showed you guys. It's a little bit smaller. It has a handle on the back. And I like how
it's clear so you can see the contents inside. When I saw this, I thought of using it in
the craft room for like pom-poms or beads or those googly eyes like any small thing
that you have a lot of could go inside here. And it has a nice flat surface so you could
put a label here or you could put a picture label. It has a nice lid that squeezed on
very tightly. It's easy to open. So for a dollar, not bad at all.
OK. So the next thing I found are these cord clips. And they're basically just like the
3-M Command Cord Clips that you see at like Target or the Container Store. They come like
three to a pack and they're around $5. Well these ones, they are 12 to a pack and they're
a dollar. So that's around 8 or 9 cents per cord clip which is so cheap. It's like under
like a dime per cord clip.
So all you do to use these is there are cases, you just peel off the backing and you stick
it to like the bottom of the wall to hold a cord in place or you stick it to the edge
of a desk to prevent a cord from dangling or hanging down. So 12 cord clips for a dollar.
Total steal.
OK. So the next thing I found was this collapsible storage container that's made of canvass.
This was the color that I got. They had I think it was like pink stripes, they have
purple stripes, they have black, I think they had an all blue one. They had like a wide
variety of these bins. So for a dollar, it's not bad.
OK. So the last thing I found were these - they are like kind of Ziploc bags. They are a gallon
size and you get eight to a box so it's around like 12 cents each. And besides using them
like obviously in the kitchen for food storage, I use these for like when I travel for cosmetics
or like shampoos like wrapping them so they don't spill.
I also use them to contain some of my cords or I have used them in the past to organize
puzzle pieces in the toy room so like removing all the puzzle pieces from probably broken
cardboard box, putting them inside to flop bags and then cutting out the picture on the
front of the puzzle box and then sticking it inside the Ziploc bag and then taking that
whole Ziploc bag and putting it inside of a drawer or inside of a bin or a basket in
the toy room. So that's just a few of the uses that you could do with these hefty Ziploc
bags.
So that's everything that I found at the Dollar Store. I showed you guys - I didn't show you
ten different products because I bought multiples of some of the products but I showed you like
six or seven things that you can get at the Dollar Store for just a dollar to help you
get organized, maximize space, and make things a little easier to access inside of your house.
If you've got something at the Dollar Store that has helped get organized or stay organized
for just a dollar, I would love to know what it is. Post a comment below or leave a video
response and show us exactly what you did.
So that's all I have for you guys today. If you want more organizing tips or want to be
part of one of my programs then visit my website at Alejandra.TV. I will see you guys soon.
Bye.
