people think we're nuts
but not in the sense of
dude that's crazy
that's so cool
more in the sense of
you guys are in your mid twenties
what are you going to do with your life
and I usually say
what do you mean?
this is how me and my brothers are always going to live
and then they ask
is it worth?
for my seventh birthday
my mom and dad got me
a video camera and a surfboard
hi I'm Jee Graeff welcome to Nub
since I can remember I wanted to be a movie director
I guess things kind of worked out the way that I dreamed
we were raised and educated under the philosophy
that creation and self expression
are the two most important things while growing up
we went to a Waldorf school
where finger knitting and sculpture
are just as important as math and english
we weren't allowed to watch TV until high school
and video games were out of the question
so what do you do when you can't watch TV?
you go outside
I would blame my education
and my upbringing
on how I turned out
if I saw anything wrong with who I am
a lot of kids that I went to school with
turned out pretty bad
and messed up on drugs
alcohol and for the most part
lacking self esteem
me and my brothers always joke that Kimberton creates monsters
and for the most part
it does
but I guess we could handle it
because we turn the monster off
and we can walk into a business meeting
in school me and my brothers
were always considered bad
which is funny
because
we were like the only ones that turned out ok
I appreciate how I was raised and educated
it taught me everything
I think we turned out ok mostly
because my parents aren't fake
they're genuine
and they've really supported everything
we've ever done
I've had Nub since fifth grade
back then it meant
Nobody's Unliked Buddy
which to us meant
that we would never bar anyone from our crew
and it still stands true today
if you want in
we'll give you a chance
as long as you're not a junkie
or completely up
you can usually find a home with the boys
well
there's a couple junkies
that have found homes
my mom always talks about how
when we first started Nub when I was twelve
we used to just spray paint Nub on everything
write it
put it on tee shirts
put it on our skateboards
on our books
on everything
at school
at home
and anywhere else
once we came up with Nub
it just had to be
we never questioned it for one second
growing up
after high school Nub kind of died
my first two years of film school
were a roller coaster of
class, alcohol and laziness
college makes you lazy
people think college is hard until they graduate
and the real world
is a hell of a lot harder
my brothers had the idea to go to stunt school
they finished their training about the same time
that I got handy with
filming and editing
so we kicked everything off again
how it was always supposed to be
but this time we called it Nub TV
that was a little more then three years ago
and we've never stopped since
since we started Nub TV
it has steadily grown
in the beginning it was impossible
now we have some traction
but it's still a hard lifestyle
hardly anyone we know understands
what we do or why
tons of people support us
but on a personal level they don't really get it
and I don't really expect people to get it
it's insane to me to go to work everyday
and sit at a desk
while your prime years are just passing you by
I also see how what we do everyday
is insane to people as well
no matter what I end up doing
I'm going to own my own business
I work the hardest when it's worth it
so when people ask "is it worth is?"
I always smile
look them directly in the eyes
and say yes
if I had advice for anyone who ever lived
it would be this
today is your day
don't be afraid
own it
everything in life
is do it yourself
and it's up to you
and only you
to do it
you can change the world
but you actually have to try
this is Nub TV
and we've been off the wall
since we were born
