A new study from Deloitte found that younger UK consumers are eating out more often than
in previous years. Although the recession is having a negative impact on most businesses
throughout the country, the restaurant industry is growing.
Deloitte's Taste of the Nation survey found that consumers between the ages of 18 and
34 are going out to eat nearly 30% more often than last year. Consumers from "Generation
Y" have collectively helped keep the restaurant industry from facing a contraction. Their
increased purchases have increased overall business by 19% since 2011.
