Chanel West Coast’s New Song ‘Nobody’ Is the Girl Power Anthem the World Needs Right
Now
This one’s for the ladies!
Chanel West Coast dropped her latest single, “Nobody,” on Friday, Jan. 12 — and it
is a
grade-A bop.
Not only is it catchy AF, but the new tune is also laced with a message of girl power
that we can definitely
get behind.
In an exclusive interview with In Touch, the 29-year-old rapper opened up about “Nobody”
and how she hopes it can empower
her female fans.
“This song is about not needing approval from anyone to make you happy,” Chanel explained.
“We as women
are special and never need to lean on anyone but ourselves.”
The Ridiculousness personality added, “It’s about being an individual and doing what you
like no matter what people
think.
Be you, be free, live your best life.
And don’t listen to nobody but your own heart.”
Check out the music video
for “Nobody” — which Chanel flawlessly styled herself.
It’s clear that Chanel practices what she preaches.
Though she’d eventually like to find Mr. Right, the Love & Hip Hop:
Hollywood star previously told In Touch that she enjoys being single — especially because
she gets to call her own shots.
“I’ve always been interested in finding love.
I’ve always been a relationship type of girl, but my love life hasn’t been
working out very well.
And right now, I like being independent,” she revealed last summer.
“So I’m kind of just focusing
on my career now.
I feel like it’s a sign from God to focus 100 percent on my career and stop worrying
about trying to
find love at all.”
Plus, of all the relationships she’s had, it seems as though Chanel’s love for music
supersedes any feelings she’s ever
had for a significant other.
“Music is my real true love in my life and I think that’s the reason a lot of my
relationships didn’t work out — because I’ve put my career first,” she told In
Touch.
“So, yeah, I wanna find love but
right now the focus is my career.”
“Nobody” is available on iTunes.
And be sure to catch Chanel on Ridiculousness, airing on MTV Friday nights at 8 p.m.
EST.
