Welcome to the 3. part of my guitar challenge!
I promise you:
if you master this challenge you will be able to play every song on the guitar
without breaking your fingers!
When you say:
Oh, I can`t yet fret this and this chord...
What is written in the notes and tabs…whatever?!
The point here is:
The challenge is to know the sounds on A and E string!
Don`t worry!
I won`t torture you with music sheets right now. ;)
You can also transfer it to music sheets,
if you want to.
But right now it is important
to know the names of the keynotes.
empty string
1. collar
2. collar
3. collar
4. and 5. collar
We will do this now on both sides till 5. collar.
Then you`re completely steeled.
Let`s say
on A string we will go up to 6. collar.
All together we have
1,2,3,4,5,6,
7,8,9,10,11,12,13
different keynotes.
Whereas the 5. here matches the empty A string.
In so far you will learn 12 different keynotes on the guitar!
And you probably will know already some of them.
Then you can basically join and play every song with 1 grip.
If you have like a schedule of the text, chord symbols or something like this.
And at this point it`s really not important
whether it`s minor or major!
That`s the great thing here!
Because we do it with POWER CHORDS!!!
Okay!?
As mentioned earlier the challenge here is to know the names of the keynotes.
That`s somewhat a task requiring great diligence!
But that`s a challenge anyone can master!!
And every pro guitar player did master this challenge in his career
to be able to quickly find one`s way on the guitar.
Even if you don`t really know the song exactly
(or if it`s a minor or major chord)
but if you have a keynote in your head,
then you can accompany a song.
And that`s really worth a lot!
And it also makes a lot of fun :-)
if you can go through a song very fast!

Here we go!
Okay!
Probably you know these 2 empty strings here by name.
E and A
So we already know 2 power chords!
We grasp these strings now with ring and middle finger.
Maybe that`s a bit unfamiliar
but that`s among others the challenge here!
Okay!
Here you hit E, A and D string
and the ring finger goes to 2. collar on A string,
little finger on 2. collar on D string.
That`s the E power chord!
If you move this 1 collar up
- I always view this from pointer respectively E string -
then you`re playing the F power chord!
One more collar up it`s Fis power chord!
G power chord
Gis power chord
A power chord
And we find this one up here as well!
Here is Ais power chord
H power chord
C
Cis
D
and Dis power chord
Now it`s your turn to learn these keynotes by heart!
Maybe you now say:
Okay, I don`t know anything about notes.
But maybe you already know some of them.
If you grab G major chord
then you know
that your middle, ring finger or whatever has to be right here.
That`s a G!!!
Okay!
Take this as an orientation.
Then you already know the empty string.
Right here is G.
Then comes A string.
Maybe you even know C major guitar chord,
where the ring finger has to be here.
That`s C.
Then you already know lots!
At the beginning you have to learn this by heart!
Go up here:
E, F, Fis, G, Gis, A, Ais, H, C, Cis, D, Dis
If you know these names really well,
and when you have a sheet of music with chord symbols for a song in front of you,
then you can just play along.
You don`t have to worry
how to make this grip
because it`s always the same!
So you can just join in and play along. :-)
Let`s take this example:
Rolling in the deep by Adele
and so on and so forth!
Maybe you will find the following information on the sheet:
E minor is the mode.
Then H minor and D major
But you will just play it all as power chords!
And like this you can basically do it with every song!
You just see a letter
and then you just grab and play it on the guitar!!!
That`s a very fast way to be able
to play and play along with songs!
Like this you get a procedure and a flow!
That`s the challenge here!!!
