I want to help people. I guess you could say it's a calling.
My name is Xavier Jeffries, and I'm 16 years old.
Me and my little brother came along and thought of ways
that kids can make a differnece.
The Kick Back Crew is a little small organization
that we have in the Rockwell Park community.
It got going by all the crime in our neighborhood,
and we all got together and we wanted to make a difference.
We get together once a month, go places and volunteer.
He is one of the biggest role models, especially to his little brother
and to other kids here in the community.
The girls are crazy about him.
I'm mostly proud of all the kids just getting up on Saturdays
and going out and volunteering just out of the kindness of their heart
when they could stay at home watching TV.
It's just like a rush or a feeling you get when you volunteer.
You just feel like you're helping someone.
My wiseness comes from my mother, because she's always pushing me,
and she's telling me "Do more, do more."
I do see him as a leader, not a follower.
I think Xavier can make some positive changes in the world.
To get this award on Martin Luther King's day, it makes me proud
and it makes me want to do more in our community
because of the impact that Martin Luther King had on the community and the whole world.
It makes me want to aim high, shoot for the stars.
