Do you know how to know if your baby is head down?
The only way to be sure is if the doctor does a sonogram. The doctor can get a good impression
by feeling for the head.
Can I tell the baby’s position based on the kicks? Or when the head turns?
Those regular thumbs are just as likely to be hitting as kicking. The large, hard bump
could be a butt.
I’m worried that the baby won’t be head down by the time I go into labor.
Most babies migrate into that position during the last month of your pregnancy. And you
can still deliver the baby if he’s in a different position.
Feet first is dangerous. I might end up with a C-section.
Feet first babies are more difficult to deliver. A head first baby could end up wedged by its
shoulders.
I heard of belly mapping to determine where the baby is.
It’s kind of a guess until the last month. And by that point, the baby is pretty large
and set in place, and the doctor can feel for the head to determine where he is.
I’d like to know for myself, for peace of mind. And because the insurer isn’t going
to pay for another sonogram.
Get a fetal stethoscope and listen for the heartbeat. If the heartbeat is low in your
abdomen, the baby is facing head down.
Is there any way to read baby behavior like hiccups or kicking?
If he’s kicking the wind out of you, he’s probably head down. If the hiccups are lower
than the used to be, he’s probably facing head down.
I don’t know if being winded is a positive sign or not.
Don’t worry. You’ll be breathless after you see your new baby.
And out of breath chasing a toddler.
