So folks here I am again, the Paddy of Airsofttipps, now with my review about the KWA G17.
Example of this was the Glock 17 but we will get to this later
This review has been divided into:
• Packaging an delivery
• Materials, workmanship an markings
• Operation and function
• Disassembly and reassembly
• Shooting test
• The result
• And a brief view of the real steel example
You see that I have inserted the different points on the right side.
If you’ve already watched the review, you can click on each heading and watch only this part again.
The chapters are always announced shortly in small images.
On the right hand there is a button to skip over a chapter and on the left hand there is a button to watch the previous chapter again. These buttons are only in the announcing small images.
Ok, let’s start with the review.
Ok. The packaging itself is very simple but well made.
Once we have here the image of the product itself.
Then here are the most important points highlighted like a real recoil- feeling, that a magnesium slide is used, that a rail is used and that there is an adjustable hop-up.
Let’s open the packaging.
I have to say that there is normally a small introduction leaflet with the details and the security advice but I can not find it anymore. So I have decided to make the review without the small leaflet.
Ok. Enclosed we have got a small package of BB’s
A small tool to load the weapon which we do not need.
The well-known hop-up key.
And the weapon itself. Let’s get it out.
I hope it does not sound to nasty for you.
And finally in the weapon: the magazine.
That’s the whole delivery excepted the small introduction leaflet. Therefore everything is needed for the weapon excepted the gas.
Ok, now the materials.
The slide was complete made of metal just the same the outer barrel and inner barrel.
The reviver, the trigger and the magrelease are made of plastic.
There is one more part made of metal and that’s the bolt catch.
The magazine was as well complete made of metal. The only part made of plastic which attracted my attention is the bottom plate bur we will talk about it later.
It is nevertheless a very sturdy plastic, so it does not matter.
The hop-up key was complete made of metal and that’s fine because plastic would be out of place for a tool like this.
The tool to load the weapon fells like it was made of a very cheap plastic. I do not like these tools and I won’t use it.
Now the workmanship.
The slide makes the effect that it has been spilled in one piece. Very pleasant and very sturdy.
The only thing that attracts my attention is typical for KWA and my long runner: the lacquer.
Here on the outer barrel the lacquer deducted from the metal the barrel is made of.
Just the same on the chamber because it’s already the same lacquer. It is not bad but not either nice.
I am not a fan of a used-look and when it occurs to fast, I do not find it nice as well. Approximately only 100 shots and a beginning used-look, I do not like that very much.
Let’s go on with the workmanship. Now the reviver itself.
It appears also very pleasant. I have to say that you can see where the different parts were taken together but if you stroke through it you feel nothing. So it is all right.
Then we have got here a small indentation.
It is very pleasant and the same like the indentation of the real one.
Just the same the indentations here for the fingers, they are very pleasant.
Also the grains on the outside and inside of the weapon. They are very pleasant worked and very sturdy.
The only thing that is negative now is the fact that there is no eye for a lanyard.
While researching I found out that the real Glock 17 has no eye for a lanyard, too. So it would not fit with the overall picture, too.
Now the magazine.
Also very sturdy and very simple worked
Magazine key, what shall I splendidly say about the workmanship? Very sturdy and very simple.
And the loading tool, I think I will put it away because we do not need it anymore.
Otherwise I take it out of the rating.
Markings: You will search a bit to find them here.
On the one hand you will find the ASG, the F and the Cal. 6mm BB.
And on the other hand you will have at first some stickers but I will take them off later. Here once recessed a small engraving and a number from the shop where I have bought it, Sniper AS.
Otherwise there is a serial number on the inside where you also find the rail.
On the rear of the magazine you will find simple markings for the number of cartridges. It’s a fake but also a nice detail. I find it all pleasant.
Ok. Now how to operate with the G17. There are only three elements to operate.
Once there is the bolt catch and I think that everyone knows how to work with.
And it will also work if your magazine is empty.
Then there is the magrelease.
It works very clean and if you push it, the magazine will glide out of the weapon itself.
A safety catch you will search in vain. It does not exist. The only safety catch which exists is the trigger itself.
A small unmating preventer. I will show it on the other side that you are able to see.
If I pull the trigger here, nothing happened.
Only if I pull it completely, it will be useable
Ok. To make the weapon ready to use it, you can once pull the follower of the magazine down and lock it there.
Now you are able to fill the BB’s into the magazine.
We will omit this and go on.
A thing that is also very nice, in my opinion, is the fact that you can let the follower locked and are able to shot with an empty weapon.
Otherwise, especially in a game, you have to look after the follower after reloading the magazine an to push it to do not have empty shots. This effect is especially bad for a person in a game.
The magazine will be filled with gas here on the underside of it.
The bottom plate can be pulled in front and you can lock it there, so that you are not able to loose it. You must not pull it completely away.
Then there is the valve and you can fill the gas into the magazine.
To tune the hop- up, you have to pull the slide back and can now tune it with the key.
Sometimes it is easier to hold the slide and so you are easier able to grip the hop-up with the key and to tune it.
Disassembly: If you want to disassemble the real Glock17, you have to pull the slide approximately 5mm back to be able to push these two noses down
If you want to disassemble the Airsoftversion you needn’t do that.
You only have to load the weapon and to push the two noses down. Now you are able to pull the slide forwards.
Why you have to do this in this way is relative simple.
Here you see the hammer. When I activate it, it comes out
And if you now want to push the slide forwards, I will brief show it, the hammer will get caught in the slide, but you will not damage it.
You only have to look after it, if you want to reassembly the weapon and you have to push this little point down.
Now you are able to close the slide.
This is the slide itself.
Here’s the spring, which is very loose fixed
And finally we’ve got the inner and the outer barrel. Let’s pull it out.
The outer barrel was also complete made of metal, not the same like the outer barrel of the USP
And that’s the inner barrel and now you are able to see, where the hop-up key grips into the hop-up and you can tune it. Only to show it to you.
Once brief from the other side
So. To reassemble the weapon is as well quiet easy.
We grap the inner barrel into the outer barrel and push it now into the slide.
Now the spring. It’s a bit tricky.
You have to fix it in the middle of the slide and you have to be careful.
It likes to jump out. You have to be very careful.
Yes, that’s what I actually said. It likes to jump out.
You must have some fine felling but I do not have that in front of the camera.
It’s inside and fixed.
Ok. Let’s talk about the result.
The result is all in one very positive. Let’s start with the positive points.
They are very easy. The Glock 17 is an extreme good and sturdy workmanship.
There is a very sturdy slide, a very pleasant and easy to grip, reviver.
The elements to operate are very simple and there is no normal securing but the reviver-securing.
All elements to operate are very good to handle.
Except the bolt catch, it’s a bit small, but it’s not a big problem. I was also able to use it with gloves.
The next positive point is that you are able to disassemble and reassemble the weapon and the magazine very fast.
The valve of the magazine is also protected against dirt.
You are able to push the follower of the magazine down on you own and you can lock it there. You are easier able to fill the magazine.
You do not have a disrupting hammer or something like that, which is an advantage of the Glock.
Ok. For gamer in foreign countries, there is the rail on the underside of the weapon to install laser-light- modules or something like that.
Here in Germany it is without any sense but there are people who put such modules on there weapon to all appearances, which they filled before.
If you want to have real markings or not, is also a point to argue about. I did not take it into the rating.
Ok. The recommendations:
For a normal Airsoftgamer, who is searching for a reliable backup, the Glock 17 is the choice in my opinion
I’m anyway convinced of KWA since my USP and yes, I can only recommend it.
For a renector who is searching for a weapon with markings, there are also versions of the G 17 with markings.
The negative points are worn out very quickly.
When the weapon is furious, the slide is wobbling but it’s not very dramatic. It’s only a minimal play.
And yes, what’s missing is the eye for a lanyard, the real weapon does not have it, too, but that’s not terrible.
Ok. Let’s talk about some information about the real steel example.
The Glock 17 is being produced since the 1980’s.
It has been introduced in the Austrian Armed Force in the year 1983 as the pistol 80 and is used there till today.
It is also very popular for different police forces for example in the United States.
It is represented all over the world.
Once because of its very light and because of the high quantity produced, it is very reasonable to get.
In other words, models of “Heckler und Koch”, “Sig Sauer” or “Baretta” are for the most part considerable expensive.
The name “Glock 17” does not mean that it is the 17th pistol of Glock but that it is based on the 17th patent of Mr. Gaston Glock.
The following numbers are, I do not know, I do not understand the system behind the different names. It’s also not important.
The fact is, that there are a lot of pistols produced, which are based on the G17.
The best example after it is the Glock 17c.
It only has V-shaped openings in the barrel, compansators, to prevent the surge of the weapon.
The following development is the well- known Glock 18.
It’s a fully automatic pistol, in other words it is able to shot fully automatically
For the original Glock, there are types of magazines with 17, 19 and 33 shots.
There is also the very sick drum- magazine which is compatible with the Glock 18 and 17.
The Glock 17 in real hat got the calibre 9mm.
The other versions, the Glock 18, 19, 20 also have the calibre 9mm but there are weapons of Glock with different calibres, too, for example 40mm, 45mm or the exotic cal. 10mm which was momentarily used by the FBI.
Therefore there are many pistols of Glock:
There are very small versions and especially sport versions which are a bit heavier.
That’s for example a point on which the marksman, the police and the armed force are of different opinions.
The police and the armed force appreciate something which the marksman does not appreciate:
Police and armed force appreciate a light weight and an extreme high capacity of cartridges.
For marksman, these advantages are disadvantages because of the differences of the weight between a full and an empty magazine.
The behaviour of the weapon changed drastic, what is a big disadvantage.
These pistols are very reliable and popular and many marksmen have become friends with this weapon but also with the much specialised versions. The pure Glock 17 is relative rare.
There are service weapon classes, too, but even there, you will find the Glock 17 in the reasonable weapons.
The original Glock 17 is also a weapon without a hammer, just the same the Airsoftversion.
It also has got the unmating preventer and a safe-action-system.
It means that there is only a hammer inside the weapon which will be tightened- upps, there had been a bullet inside- when you tighten the hammer will be prestressed for a part and the rest will be done through the trigger.
So the weapon is extreme safe to carry.
Further, the Glock 17 is very popular at the armed force. Once because of one simple reason: it is made of only a few parts. The original Glock 18 is made of 33 parts.
If you disassemble the weapon completely, you will only have 33 separate parts which is especially for the armed force and the maintenance a big advantage.
Especially the reinforcements if something has to be maintained
Those have been some information about the real G17.
You are able to find more about it and some opinions are my own opinions, especially the marksmen.
But that’s my channel and so I’m able to bring my own opinion in my videos.
Those have been information about the real example.
That’s it about my review. I’ll be happy if you write something about the review itself and the whole system.
That’s far from me.
We’ll meet again..
