Well, Christopher and I
absolutely love design blogs and
one to check out is called
Designmaze by Tim Lam.
It's a really, really cool site.
>> Chris: Very cool.
>> Steven: And we took a tour of
his great condo.
Take a look, everyone:

>> Tim Lam: Welcome to my
apartment.
This is my living room and I
love the mixture of colour,
texture, and patterns in this
space.
I love shopping vintage.
And in the living room I have
three main vintage pieces: this
slipper chair, the sofa and the
womb chair.
These floor lamps are new.
They're overscale and I
personalized the lamp shade by
putting this geometric pattern
fabric on top just to make it
that much more exciting.
The side tables are mismatched
but they work perfectly together
in the space.
They're both white and they also
share an organic vibe.
And on the floor I put down this
graphic rug and on the top I
also put down this reindeer hide
just to add the extra texture
and the cosy factor for the
space.

>> Tim: In the dining room I
went for a completely different
design approach.
I started off with this dramatic
wallpaper from Cole & Son.
It's bright.
It's vibrant and it's definitely
cosy.
To add more warmth to the space
I also brought in a few wood
pieces into the room.
I started off with these vintage
iconic chairs and I also pair
that with this Tiller table.
Since this is a dark space I
added a full length mirror to
reflect light and also to
reflect the beautiful wallpaper
on the opposite wall.
And I've grounded all these
mid-century pieces with a
neutral tribal rug.

>> Tim: In my bedroom storage
was a big issue and I conquered
that by doing this custom
built-in storage unit and it
houses all my clothes and also
all my decorative accessories
for the space.
Opposite to the custom headboard
feature wall is this wallpaper
that I put in as an accent.
I love the cheerful nature of
this wallpaper.
It makes me happy to wake up
every morning.
Overall, my apartment has a good
balance of masculine and
feminine quality and I just love
how it reflects my personal
eclectic taste.

Well your blog is called
Designmaze.
>> Tim: That's right.
>> Chris: All right, now tell us
a little bit about what your
blog looks like.
>> Tim: Well my blog is a place
where I share with my readers
all the inspirational ideas that
I see on magazines and TV and
shows that I go to.
And things I just--you get
inspired, you want to bring it
home.
Everything you want to try out.
And also on projects that I work
on.
So some of the things kind of
behind the scene on, well if you
have problems then how do you
deal with it?
And something that can probably
translate to in an old home and
when they do renovations.
>> Chris: That's great.
>> Steven: Particularly, we were
just talking about while the
tape was rolling there, it's
like, I can see you break every
rule, which is so fresh to see
though.
It's so lovely.
You said you like to bring in
the stuff that you like to look
at.
>> Tim: Definitely.
>> Steven: That makes you happy.
>> Tim: Yeah.
You know what, if you love them
it will work in your house.
>> Chris: That's a great way to
do it because sometimes people
look at something and they go,
"I really would like to have
that at home.
But I just adore looking at it
but it's not going to go with
the colour scheme or there's too
much pattern on it."
But then they're going to miss
out an enjoying that piece.
>> Tim: Definitely.
Well if you like something bring
it home and it will work
somewhere.
If it is not in this room then
it will work somewhere else.
And pattern, mix them all.
>> Chris: But you know what, I
think it's confidence as well.
>> Steven: Yeah.
>> Chris: You're confident and
you're going to look fantastic
if you're confident with your
personal style or if you're
confident with your home, your
interior style.
If you're confident it's going
to look amazing.
Don't you agree, everybody?
I think that's the way you have
to be instead of following
rules.
>> Steven: Instead of following
rules and I think your place has
a lot of confidence.
And I just want to share with
everybody as well, we gave you a
bit of a challenge.
>> Tim: Yes.
>> Steven: To see if you could
redo your whole living room by
shopping in your own apartment,
not leaving the door, to see
what you could actually do to
your living room.
>> Tim: That's right.
We did that.
>> Chris: Let's have a look:

>> Tim: Guys, check this out.
This is a completely different
living room just by looking
around my house and looking for
some pieces that could come into
this place.
To me it's cosy.
It's inviting and it's also very
masculine.
Perfect for the evening when I
come home.
For the quick update we swapped
the pink and green pillow and in
exchange we put in black and
gold pillows on the sofa.
To bring some colour to the
space I also added the purple
flowers and also this tall
orchid in bright yellow just for
a pop of colour and also great
in scale.
Design books are a great way to
accessorize a space and for me I
just love these books.
And the colour works exactly
perfect in this space.
And of course a little teacup is
right next to it so that I can
sit here and enjoy and read my
books.
For a different look on the womb
chair I put in this felt pillow
with antler motif on top just to
make it super cosy.
The last piece of this makeover
is to swap out the grey brown
chair that I had here before in
place with this light grey
sculptural chair to help
brighten up the space.
So I'm loving my brand new
living room.
The best thing is I don't even
need to leave my house to shop.
I just walk around and all the
things I have is already in my
place.
Super affordable, super easy,
super brand-new look.

know what, we really, really
love all the design blogs that
