"Chavism" declares that their main goal is to end poverty in
Venezuela
However,
today more than nine million venezuelans still remain in poverty.
The reason can be found
in the "Chavista Economicall Model". Lets see the official figures:
During the 14 years of Chavismo, the government received 697.000 millions of
dollars
that came directly from the imports of oil.
This is equivalent to say that we received 25.320 dollars for each venezuelan.
Three times more
than during the previous 14 years.
This is the period with the highest oil richness in our history.
One would imagine, that whilst having such resources,
the economy of Venezuela should have rocketed.
But it was not the case.
In 2013 each venezuelan produces only 13,5% more than what they were producing in
1998.
Under Chavism, we have been the country with the lowest economical growth in
Latin America,
only above Haiti, which was devastated by an earthquake.
If the economy didn't grew, What was done with our money?
The vast majority,
62%, was spent in imported goods.
The Chavista policies drove the country to a situation where its cheaper to import,
than to produce in our own country.
Whilst the Bolivares were loosing purchasing power in Venezuela due to
inflation,
they kept their purchasing power abroad due to the currency exchange.
As a result,
we spent 483.000 million dollars
to import goods from other nations.
And here is the key of the "Chavista Model":
This avalanche of imported products allowed to increase the consumption of
Venezuelans in 53%,
But at the expense of our economic growth
because the imported goods competed disloyally with the national industry,
transforming Venezuela into a machine of creation of wealth and good jobs
But for other countries.
We had the historical opportunity to bring Venezuela out of poverty
And the government wasted this opportunity.
Only one out of three people in situation of poverty in 1998 managed
to overcome poverty in the previous 14 years.
Our neighbours reduced poverty at a much higher rate.
Argentina in 75%, Uruguay 53%,
Peru in 52%,
Chile in 46%,
Brasil 44%. And none of them had the oil income that we had.
This growth was achieved by focusing on policies that increased their
production.
The "Chavista Economical Model" doesn't generates progress. It was nationalist only in the
speech, but in reality,
it re-affirmed the colonial system of exporting prime raw materials, and importing
everything else.
Its such an unsustainable model that despite of the high oil prices
the government had to multiply by four our foreign debt to be able to
finance it.
And the result we are seeing it every day on the streets: Scarcity, Inflation,
Devaluation, a cycle that will never end with this government.
If you want progress
and policies that truly would allow to overcome poverty. Vote for change.
