an infected victim. The virus infects the central nervous system. It can also cause
swelling in the brain. Rabies is a zoonotic disease. The side effects are chills, fever,
progressing to acute pain, violent movements, foaming from the mouth, and weakness, but
most of the time people do not survive. Rabies in humans. When a human is bit by an infected
victim, vaccinations are available both preventative and immediately after exposure. Where the
bite...where the bite is there will be swelling and irritation. People with rabies react the
same way as in animals. Only mammals can get rabies. Birds, fish, and reptiles do not.
Most cases occur in wild animals. Mainly found in foxes, skunks, raccoons and bats. Animals
have the same symptoms as humans. Dogs are the main animals that infect humans that are
domestic. The mortality rate. Rabies occurs in more than 150 countries. It kills more
than 55,000 people each year. 40% of the people that are under 15 years of age. 95% of the
