Hi welcome to Phase 3 of Orientation. You may not know this,
but your campus provides you with many helpful services
that are simple to use.
To find out more information about a particular service,
please drop in for a visit!
The website is a great reference, and the Administration office is
the perfect place to start.
Hi my name is Joanne. Welcome to the Campus Administration office.
This is the office where you can come to answers to any of the questions you
might have about Waterloo campus.
Appointments for most College Services can be booked here
And if you're not sure, just come in and ask,
that's what we're here for.
We can also help you with any OSAP questions you may have,
and we can forward your paperwork to the Financial Office at Doon.
We'll also take any payments that you have and
forward that to the Registrar's Office.
Now it's very important that if you want use a locker it must be signed
out.
It will only take a minute so come on into the office and
we will register your name with a locker number.
And if you are looking for parking information or you are
looking for a parking decal come on in and we'll help you with that.
Now by any chance if you missed getting a student ID card during Orientation,
come on in and we'll help you with that.
Something else you may also like to know is that upstairs in the 2B corridor,
we have computers that you can use at any time.
You can also use any of the computers in the computer labs as long
as there is not a class in session.
And speaking of computers, it is very important that you check your Conestoga email
as well as your Desire2Learn account, and check them regularly.
This is a primary source of communication between you and the college.
Now, if you're new to the area and you are looking for an urgent care clinic,
simply go to the Conestoga website and click under Health Services.
And there you'll find a list of all the walk-in clinics that are in the area.
If you don't have a doctor and you don't want to use a walk-in clinic,
again, go to the home page, Health Services, and there
you can book an appointment with the Doctor at the Doon Campus.
And if you go, remember your OHIP card.
Now, If you're going to Doon for an appointment or for any of their services,
make sure to check your parking decal because on the decal it will indicate
which parking lots you're allowed to park in while you're at Doon.
So for these questions or any other questions you might have,
feel free to come into the Administration office,
we'll be happy help you.
Thank you.

office.
My name is Caroline.
Let me show you around and tell you a bit about what
we do here at Counselling Services.
If you wish to see a counsellor, feel free to come to the
Campus Administration office and book an appointment.
We will arrange a time that's convenient for you to see someone.
All our counsellors are professionally trained and
can assist you with a variety of things.
Something that we want every student to know is that our services are free, voluntary and
confidential.
Our number one goal is to assist you to overcome any barriers
that you might be experiencing towards your academic success.
We can help with personal difficulties such as stress, relationship issues,
depression, anxiety and transition to college.
We see students for academic reasons too, for help with performance and test anxiety,
screening for suspected learning disabilities and with any of the academic procedures
outlined in the Student Guide.
These are just some of the reasons why so many of our students
access Counselling Services each semester.
We hope you have a wonderful experience here at Conestoga.
Counselling Services is here to help in any way we can.
Hi, I'm Kelly Laurila and I work at the Waterloo Campus
and I'm a counsellor in Accessibility Services.
You could receive Accessibility Services if you have a documented disability or
if you have received supports through your high school in the Resource Centre.
To make an appointment you just need to go to
the Administration office and book a time.
When we meet, make sure to bring with you any documentation that you may have
of your disability and we can discuss what supports and services you will need.
It could be that you might need a note-taker, extra time on tests
software that helps you with reading and writing or other services.
If you have any barriers related to your disability we can discuss those and help put services
in place for you to be successful in your program.
Be sure to come to our office as soon as possible so that we can put those services in place
for you to be successful when you are at Conestoga College.
Remember our services are free, they're confidential and we're here to help
you.
Now that you're familiar with some of these great services,
let's drop into a few more.

My name is Chris and I'm a librarian at Conestoga.
The Library Resource Centre or LRC, for short, is available to help you with all your learning
and research needs no matter which program you're in.
The great thing is that the LRC's online resources are available from anywhere
you have access to the internet, including all labs here at the Waterloo campus.
You can access the library online from the Conestoga College website.
With nearly 70, 000 E-Books, and millions of high-quality articles
available online it's no wonder that this is the most popular way for students
to access our resources.
The most important thing for you to know is that the library has friendly,
knowledgeable staff that can help you.
In many cases, a Program Liaison, from the Library, will visit you
in one of your classes to speak about research for one of your assignments.
Of course you can always contact us or visit us at the Doon campus library
and we'd be happy to help you.

Your campus really does offer a lot! Let's meet the final few service areas now.
Hi, my name is Laura and I'd like to welcome you
to the Financial Aid and Student Awards Office.
We provide financial information, advice, support and services
to help you fund your way through your post-secondary education.
We administer the Ontario Student Assistance Program,
in combination with the provincial government
otherwise known as OSAP.
We have numerous awards, bursaries, scholarships available and
we also have work-study program, which helps you with on campus employment.
We have emergency funding available for you, if you ever need it and
we definitely would like you to contact us if you have any questions,
so feel free to email, phone call, check out our website for more information.
Welcome to the Recreation Center.
We have a ton of activities for students at all different levels and
we hope you can come and take part.
If you want to be a varsity athlete, we have mens' and womens' sports in
rugby, indoor and outdoor soccer, volleyball, cross-country running and badminton.
We also have women's fastball.
Maybe intramurals is something you like to do ,
just a kick back and relax session after classes,
we have tons of those that run into the evening as well .
They can be anything from outdoor slow pitch to volleyball and hockey.
There are lots of options for you there as well.
We even have an extramural Hockey team, mens and womens,
which means we form a team here at Conestoga and we go to other colleges to play against
their extramural teams, so that's a lot of fun too.
And our Fitness Center is probably the most used aspect of the Rec Centre.
That's where you can come work out after a day in class.
It's a great stress reliever and you know the
research shows that a healthy student is a better student.
And if you are sitting at one of our satellite campuses
maybe in Waterloo or Guelph, you are thinking, well I am not really that close,
you do not pay a Rec fee but if you do live close to here and
you would like to take part you can pay a small Rec fee and
have all the services that I have outlined including
our fitness classes which might include yoga, kick-boxing,
step classes so lots of options for you.
And the most exciting news is that we are now
in the planning for a brand new Rec Centre
and we hope, our plans are, we hope to have it open by the fall of 2015.
So lots happening here, please come, join us.
Aboojoo, my name is Myeengun.
I am a member of Anishinabe people here in Southern Ontario
and I am the Manager of Aboriginal Services at Conestoga College.
I'd like to invite everybody to come and explore the services
that we provide and we'd like to share this opportunity with you
to learn about the original people of this land.
Our services provide many things.
We have an annual Powwow every February here at the college and
we host many events such as our teepee rising ceremonies
and we also do a radio show
out of the college radio station called Nish-vibes.
Here at Aboriginal Services we also look after our students.
We take care of them through offering many resources
such as books and laptop computers.
We also offer free lunches on Wednesday afternoons and this is open to everybody.
We'd like to help explore the rich heritage of the original people of this
land.
We offer opportunities for students of all nationalities to
come and learn about the original people and also we carry with us the teachings
of our elders which we provide to all that come visit.
We'd like to open our doors to all campuses to call upon our services
and if there are services that you'd like to see happen at any of other campuses,
we would be honored to come and visit and do presentations and bring with us
some of the elders that we have, that come into the college on a weekly basis.
So we hope that with the new knowledge that's happening here with the Aboriginal world,
we're better equipped to open the doors for all students to come and participate.
So if you want to get a hold of us definitely do so and help us provide
more information for you.
Thank you very much.
So these are the services available to you
for being a member of the Conestoga community and
we encourage you to take advantage of as many of them as you can.
Remember, these services are here to help you succeed.
If you have any questions, you can visit Conestoga's website or
visit the Administration office, they're here to help.
This is the end of Phase 3 of your Orientation and
There are two important things to take away from this video:
One, take advantage of the services readily available to you and
Two, get involved.
