Hi! I'm Dave Eldridge, proud member of the
Class of 1962. I bet you all remember the ballroom...
the Colonial Ballroom...when you were in school.
All those great parties and dances...Well, you ought
to see the KSTC Ballroom now!
As you no doubt recall when we were students here,
this was one of two main entrances to the
Student Union. The Student Union, as you may know,
is the oldest one west of the Mississippi. And this
year, it's celebrating its 90th anniversary. And that
coincides with the University celebrating its
150th anniversary.
Take a look at the new east entrance to your
Memorial Union! A few years ago, they undertook a
major renovation program funded by students,
and when you see this Union, when you come here
for the reunion, it will blow your mind!
I'm now standing on the east side of our beloved Welch Stadium,
named after Fran Welch. You all remember him...
great coach here. And of course in this stadium, we
watched our football games and those great
track teams perform. We still enjoy great football
games and track meets in Fran Welch Stadium, but
it's the newly-renovated Fran Welch Stadium, which
has hosted, incidentally, two national
NCAA Division Two track meets.
Lot of great things to see at Emporia State, and I hope
you'll come and check it out during our reunion
October 12 and 13. Don't miss it!
