it's hard to imagine ross without the scholarship support that we have
we wouldn't be able to have the diverse student body we wouldn't be able to help
all of our students developed as leaders
getting a scholarship has meant that I get to pursue what I'm most passionate
about
and really use business to create change in communities. Two trade marks of my
childhood were community and service. My parents are very service oriented and
That was instilled in us
since we were young. I'm part of a community that changing the world in all
kinds of ways
were pushing the envelope on what business means now
and what it's going to mean in the future. I want the Erb family to know that
its through their support and through their vision
that those of us with a vision for
impact are able to actualize,
are able to do it. When I first got the email about the scholarship I actually
called my mom. Whe was
absolutely ecstatic about it. To have this opportunity to have
such a large portion of my tuition covered was something I
couldn't be more grateful for. This summer I had the opportunity to
go to China. One of the main components of the project was
an action-based learning component where we were with a group of ten and we were
basically making a recommendation to the Chinese government
that scholarship support enables us to attract a diverse student body
and we're able to have a microcosm of the world
in our classroom. This makes for a better learning environment for everyone
because without being able to see things differently
without being able to have conversations with people who really
see things in a different way you won't be able to develop as a leader
you won't be able to contribute to organizations, and our alums
are very representative up the benefits of having
experienced this type of classroom environment.
The Ross pillars of both positive and having that social impact
is the best combination for me. I want to change the way
investment is done in urban areas to create jobs and to
increase the productivity of those communities. I knew that in order to
create
the impact I wanted to make I needed to get a business
degree and also couple that with
more by multi-disciplinary approach
which is also I wanted to get a dual degree here at Ross
through the ERB Institute. The scholarship donors really embody
the Ross culture of giving back, of knowing that people come to business
school to create change, and facilitate that by
offering people an opportunity to come to school without thinking about it
the financial burden of it. I think that my donors want to see
extremely motivated student who is not just going to sit back and take his courses
who is going to be a face for the school and have representation beyond just being an
undergraduate
It's very important, not just for me, but for other people that I succeed
and I attribute a lot of my success to this scholarship
