Hi guys, my name's Chelsea and I've just finished my first year on Law LLB at Kingston University.
I'm from Lincoln and I came to Kingston two years after my A levels. I took a couple of
years out, where I got a job. I definitely felt that helped me develop my CV at the time
and also grow a lot more committed and responsible to coming to Kingston and knowing what I was
going to do and being prepared for it all. Some things about me are I'm part of the Compact
Scheme. I'm also a student ambassador and I'm part of the Law Society here at the University
which is really good. The society runs events all the time to keep people involved and keep
the law students participating in various different events. So recently they had a BBP
Commercial Awareness Workshop which was really good as commercial awareness is very important
in the world of work today so that will definitely look great on your CV. They also do a lot
of guest speakers of past students who have been through the law programme and have got
a job now. They come and talk to you about what it's like to make the transition from
university to work which is really good. Also they hold several social events to keep everybody
involved, like they recently did the Skyfall Law Ball which was really good. It was like
a James Bond theme which everyone got really dressed up for and it was a really good night.
My top tip for coming to university would probably be to maybe go to a stationary store
like WH Smith or someplace like that and maybe buy all your folders, papers, pens and dividers.
Things like that that will really help you. I bought a folder for each module and I got
dividers for each subject. I felt that making really good notes through the start of the
year and throughout really helped me when it came to exam time so I didn't kind of you
know, panic and worry about the notes I had made because I had them all there and they
were easily accessible and easy to read. So I definitely feel like making a good start
is really good for when you do come to exams, so yeah that's my top tip.
Some others things about me are I'm based on Kingston Hill campus and I live in Chancellors
halls here which is really good, I really love the campus. It's really green and friendly
and it's about a ten minute bus ride away from Kingston Town centre and we have the
free uni bus which is really good which runs between town and all the sites. I love the
campus because it's a really good place to work, study, socialise and live. They've got
a really great bar, Hannafords the SU, and they've got really good facilities like the
Business School and the Library. They also have like a laundrette and cafes, a subway
and all kinds of things that you'll need. So being on campus is really, really great.
If you have any questions about Kingston, the campus or the Law programme or anything
at all, just ask me and I'll try to help. Ok bye.
