Downton Abbey introduces its first black character and a new love interest
for one of the ladies -- Hi everyone I'm Brian Corsetti and Hollywoodlife.com has the
Season 4 spoilers.
The 4th season of Downton Abbey will tackle race relations in the 1920's, with
the introduction of the series' first black character. The award winning TV drama
is reportedly looking for an actor to play a musician named Jack Ross.
The casting breakdown says Ross is a Male, 25-30. A musician and singer at
an exclusive club in the 20s [who is] a very attractive man with a certain wow factor,
Other characters joining the cast will include a love interest for Lady Mary
Crawley, whose storyline took a shocking turn last season when her husband Matthew Crawley,
played by Dan Stevens was killed off.
The new mom will apparently meet a new man by the name of Lord Anthony Gillingham.
The character will reportedly help the family with their money problems...ultimately becoming
a hit with Mary's father, the Earl of Grantham, played by Hugh Bonneville.
In the casting note, the character is described as good looking [and] very
charismatic [with] a perfect cut glass accent. He's warm and charming, but also a strong
man with morals.
Despite this new suitor, Michelle Dockery, who plays the widowed Mary, previously
predicted a new romance would not go so smoothly her character, telling Entertainment Weekly,
I imagine [she] will not be able to move on very quickly. It will be very difficult
to replace the love of her life.
Season 4 of Downton Abbey will first premiere in the UK this fall, and in the US
on January 5, 2014.
