Never underestimate the power networking You never know who it is
who you are going to meet Who is going to lead you to your next job
I think getting to know as many people as possible is always going to be helpful to
you Learning you know where the recruiters are
coming from And who they are is going to be very helpful
during the job search As a recent college grad how do you know what
you want to do So the best way is to talk to professionals
in the field And learn about what their experiences has
been I think linkedin is definitely one of the
better uh resources that students have accessible to them
I would definitely start with Eagle Link and the Career Center
Find out when employers are going to be on campus and attend their events
There's a lot of student groups as well here at Boston College
So I think that's another opportunity to meet employers and also meet other students
Definitely the BC alumni Career Network It actually got me the job I have right now
It can be intimidating to talk to someone who has you know is really experienced in
the field And a lot older than you
But I think you have to just keep in mind that just like us they are people
Um they've been in your shoes Uh likely they are really happy to share their
experiences with you Part of it is becoming comfortable with your
resume Your background, the skills you can bring
to the table Work on your handshake
And if you're nervous then the practice is really what is going to get you to feel more
comfortable Maybe start off with small bites
Talk with your friends and family uh then maybe step up with professors possibly
the career center As much as you can get in front of prospective
employers its better I feel that you should be getting out there
as a freshman Even if you don't even know what major you
are interested in Because there are great events like Career
Fairs That are a critical starting points to learn
how to network
