Hey, it's Sean McCabe with seanwes tv. 28,835 days—that's the number of days in 79 years.
That's the number of years that Picasso created works of art. He created over 50,000 works
of art in his lifetime—50,000! That's two a day, every single day, weekends included,
seven days a week, 365 days a year for 79 years. That's incredible. That's prolific
and out of that, he has created a ton of masterpieces. Certainly not all of the works he created
were masterpieces. Yet, we look to artists who are very well known, who have created
what we consider to now be masterpieces and we think, "How could I ever create that? How
could I create a masterpiece?" and we think that it needs to be this perfect thing. We
think that we need to be perfect and we need to make something incredible every time, but
that's not where it comes from. That's not where masterpieces come from. Masterpieces
come from showing up every day. It comes from a huge body of work—50,000 pieces of work.
I talk about showing up every day for two years without seeing results, how about show
up every day for 79 years? Do you have what it takes? Do you have what it takes to create
great work? Because that great work comes out of a body of imperfect work. What that
means is you need to create that imperfect work over and over and over again, multiple times
a day, every day, for the rest of your life. Don't get overwhelmed by the idea of creating
masterpieces, start showing up and the masterpieces will come.
