Hi, this is Rich Buccola here in New York City and today on behalf of Expert Village,
I'm going to show you how to make butternut squash compote. Alright, we're going to start
off by coring and chopping this apple up into cubes. You're going to want to use a red apple
or a green tart apple are nice for this meal as well. Alright, just remove your stem. Give
it a good wash, I just gave it a good wash. What I like to do with the apple to core it.
I mean sometimes you have those things that core it and those are a great tool. And I
don't have one today, so I just cut the apple in half and I'll put the two flat ends down
and I'll cut it in half again and I'll cut this one in half again. What I'll do then
is take my paring knife and you'll see, this inner spot here of the apple is rough. It's
the core of the apple. So what I'll do with my paring knife is just cut it out very carefully.
And make sure you don't cut yourself. And I'll do that to all four apples. Remember
when you cut towards yourself, always be careful. These are very sharp knives I'm using too.
I just go very slowly and take out the core of the apple. Alright, we got them all cored.
Let's give them a good chop into bite size pieces. Alright, what I'll first do is I'll
take one of my quarters and just cut it in half and then I'll just turn it sideways and
come back about, I don't know, three quarters of an inch. And those are my bite size pieces.
And do this to all your apples. Alright, so I have nice bite size pieces. I'm just going
to add them to our bowl. Great thing about these cutting boards, you can just pick it
up and add it right to your bowl.
