We hold in from San Francisco. I came to the hotel and I got a call about 4:30 PM.
We got on set 4:45/4:50 so we were around there.
That's actually a very cool environment that Jimmy Kimmell Show…
…More laid back and not so stuffy as some of the other live TV shows that we've done.
For Kimmel we were pretty lucky. We got in and do the sound check around 5 o'clock. Then we were spotting.
Being on a real stage like that with the PA, you know, it's just more comfortable for us, you know.
All right, here we go. It's from their latest album; it's called ABIII, here with the song Isolation! Alter Bridge!
We sort of go back and forward about whether we were going to do Isolation or Ghost of Days Gone By as the main song.
For Kimmel, we just wanted to play the singles from the record and…
…they suggested that we play the more familiar one for the main part of the show and…
a bit of the occurrence singles for the outro of the show so that was Isolation and Ghost.
Hanging out and pointing on out, doing the stage with others is the first we ever done…
…variety shows and talk shows. It's outside and not in the inside with a real sort of stare environments.
Being in the upper stage, you got your fans, they are there, you know…
…in the front rows as opposed to just a sort of studio audience.
It's kind of a like real show. You have 500 people or so.
I want to see my favorite band.
I've been a follower ever since the beginning. 3 or 4 years now.
Huge Myles Kennedy fans. I love him so much. He's got an incredible vocal range.
My favorite song is All Hope is Gone and I just love the vocal of Kennedy.
I love the song Slip to the Void.
Hi, my name is Dan. I'm from the midlands and I've seen Alter Bridge like 25 times.
26 if you count last night.
I love the new record. Ghost of Days Gone By. I knew when I first spot that album, I just knew it was gonna be a hit.
When I'm on the road, you know, I just called the wife and kids 5 times a day or so.
And in an environment or a place there's a Wi-Fi I get on face time so we can video chat with the kids and…
…That's definitely the worse part about touring, being away from the kids, you know, when I'm home…
…I'm a full-time 6:30 in the morning guy till bedtime with the kids.
You know, I miss that a lot when I come out here.
We really are watching this, folks? On cameras?
I just came out of the room.
Someone please change the *** channel?
I was very unsocial all day, very quiet which people probably mistake for me just being crabby…
…but actually especially when I expect things like this I don't talk much the day of the show.
Also we just did two in a row, with tonight technically three in a row, so […]
and it just makes it really tough on the third day. I have to relax so I tried to be quiet and do a lot of sign language just to let people know I wasn't angry at them.
In term of mind set, it goes in the preshow rituals and that sort of things, it's kind of weird, but I've doing this lately…
…I got this app on my Iphone, this guy talk you through in relaxing and no panic, in this sort of things, you know.
So I go in my bunker or I go find a quiet place to lie down and I listen to that.
And once set is over, I just go through the set list itself, you know…
…and just think of the key parts where I might be struggling in or something, you know, I might need to focus on.
It's kind of get focused to, get centered I guess.
For about 5 or 10 minutes, it should be on the coach or a pillow or something like that.
And that's it, you know. I think, for me personally if I overthink it, it's only gonna get worse.
You know, I just roll in and kind of go with the flow, that's always working that thing.
I still get butterflies, I still get anxious, I get exciting, I don't know if it comes with age or whatever, but I mean…
I mean, I get the jitters before shows even if it's a tiny show.
I mean there's something that happens when we get on stage. We just kind of work our whole life to get to this next show, to this next point.
