Welcome to Finding Books: Keyword Search in QCat.
In this video you will learn an easy way to find library books
on your topic. Starting from the library homepage,
click on the link to the "Books/DVD's" search, which will be on the left.
This will eliminate articles from your search. This search bar
will search by keyword for books and DVD's in the library catalog.
To find books on the death penalty enter the search term into the search bar,
then click search. The catalog opens in a new tab or window.
Look at the search results in the middle of the screen. The books
listed all say "check shelves", that means they should all be in the library.
The first book on the list reads "Law Circulation."
This means that this book is located in the Circulation Stacks
in the law library. Yes, you can check books out from the law library.
The next bit of information, "Law Treatises",
means it is also located in the Law library.
The next book says "Check Shelves" and "Bernard Library 2nd Floor"
which refers to the bookshelves upstairs at the Arnold Bernard Library.
How will I know if a book is checked out already?
Well, it will say "DUE" followed by the date when it is supposed to come back to the
library.
The last bit of information you need to know is the call number.
Be sure to write down the entire call number, both numbers and letters.
This will guide you to the books location on the shelves. If you have any questions
please contact a reference librarian.
