Hi everyone welcome to JC's Quiz Show on today's show I've got Eddie and Ray
and for Valentine's Day they're going to be answering questions about
the beating hearts of animals so what are you two like with your biology?
er, I'm very very very into animals yeah?
in an obscene way maybe... in... OK then, moving on how about you Ray?
I know the duck... you're an expert on the duck?
the mallard duck OK cool,
has a corkscrew *** oh yeah
I once spent about half an hour reading up on it on wikipedia
yeah so I'm pretty good
I'm just imagining Ray chasing after a duck with a bottle of wine going open it open it!
oh dear... In this round I'm going to give you a fact,
about an animal's heart, and all you've got to do each question, is tell me if you think
it's true or false Eddie first,
OK your fact is, some hummingbird hearts beat
more than 1000 times a minute is it true or is it false?
considering how fast they flap their wings, I'd say true
that is correct it is true, they are very very quick animals indeed
so Ray, your question is Elephant hearts beat only 1 time per minute when they're resting
is it true or is it false? well considering how slow they flap their
wings, I'm going to say true I'm afraid it's actually false, their hearts
beat 30 times a minute, which is still pretty slow, but not quite as slow as 1 time a minute.
OK so Eddie, the Blue whale has a heart that's as big as a car is it true or is it false?
Lemme check... does it look as big as a car?
it's not to scale... um... I'm going to say true
it is actually true, the blue whale's heart weighs about 600 kilograms and is about the
size of a small mini or something you can actually crawl through it's pipes and stuff
if you, well if you cut it out and everything but anyway
so Ray, Octopuses have 4 hearts, is that true or is it false?
oh dear... I'm just gonna, well they've got 8 legs, tentacles
yeah do they have a heart per pair of legs?
yeah why not? maybe? I'm afraid they actually have 3 so,
you're giving me the hard ones sorry about that you seem a bit set up in
this round so finally Eddie, dogs, do dogs have a larger
heart to body ratio than all other mammals? no, I'd say that's false
I'm afraid it's actually true, they do, dogs have very big hearts, in comparison
and finally Ray, is it true or is it false, that Pythons hearts grow bigger when they're
hungry at meal time, actually not when they're hungry more specifically at meal time,
OK, ah, yeah? yes it is actually true,
yeah I knew that one, they enlarge their hearts, they eat very erm...
they don't eat very often and when they do they eat something very big all at once so
they enlarge their heart to deal with the massive amount of digestion that they have
to do. So erm, however, Eddie won that round I think
it was 2-1 I think that's correct so well done Eddie, unfortunately Ray, sorry there
wasn't any questions on the duck which I know you're an expert on
so that's all for today, thanks for watching and I'll see you next time!
