In the situation we are, all of us are bad and the crisis is hitting, our lifes have changed
how many times did I steal, I stole and they have catched me, how many times did I steal, I stole and they stopped me
from the first time I liked it I have defeated the fear, I have assaulted all the shops is Salt
I have branded new clothes even I had no money, the delinquency has helped me to be fine and it was hard to leave it because I was hanged up
this is why our quarter is tainted, what to do for being good, all we need is love
more education and music with passion, this is new generation, talking to everybody about my feelings
Iím sorry... when I talk about this I I burst inside, and I feel it, music is what I have inside
itís my talent, I swear itís inside me, I enter to the centre, yeah, yeah, free life, free life music...
in the situation we are, all of us are bad and the crisis is hitting, our lifes have changed
how many times did I steal, I stole and they have catched me, how many times did I steal, I stole and they stopped me... delinquency affected me in such a way that I didnít know what to do...
I believe that delinquency is a problema everywhere and I think that in the media
appears too often that in Salt we have problems, when we do a lot of work is Salt
and when is Salt there are many young people with an incredible potential, and also I donít think that delinquency is only an issue of young people
statistically itís not true that there are more offenders among young people, what it happens is that when a youngster commit a crime there is always a piece of news about it
and you say... is it necessary to highlight that it was a youngster? When the offender is an adult person nobody says that, so that I donít believe that there are more crimes committed by young people
in fact, delinquency is a problem, but not only this committed by young people. When someone robbes to get food is because they donít have money
So, if you have the money you donít do that
I know some of my colleagues that they commit crimes, you know, because there is no money, and this crisis is hitting hard
and they perceive itís ok because in this way they are going ahead
They steal in the shops, they threaten people with knives: give me the money or I kill you, and so...
I think that delinquency is a consequence of the deep crisis
I think that if people donít have Money itís ok if they steal because they can do nothing else, thereís no alternative.
Yes, I have friends that they steal, I think they do it because they need it.
And what we did it was go and steal, to burst cars to get money to eat. So, we robbed everywhere
and we had a lot of quarrels. My father is in prison for robberies, robberies and quarrels.
What about my work, we get the proceedings opened to young people that committed a crime or allegedly committed a crime
from here, we arrange all the necessary proceedings till the moment of the trial, and then we control the compliance of the judgement
also, when the prosecutor considers that a youngster must be object of an injunction before the trial, we also order it to the minors court
the judge of minors is who controls that the fundamental rights of the minor are respected during the criminal investigation process
I feel fine with my job even though sometimes the system has some deficiencies, but we try to do our bests to make possible to pull youngsters forward
I donít see much differences in comparison to the youngsters of former times, I see them youngsters, with all the features of an adodelescent
The young people, letís see, they commit crimes because they have had a lack of education from their tutors, from their parents
because their environament is favorable, basically I would say that when someone, young or adult, commits a crime,
itís because they really think that the bad consequences are very poor, they have a feeling of impunity, that nothing will happen if they do that
Do we have to complain to the Police?... I was at home sitting in the sofa, zapping,
someone rang the bell, I went to open the door and it was the Police, they asked about me and I said I was,
Then I called to my mother, after that they told me that I had to go with them to the Police station, and I said no
that I didnít want to spend the night there, after that they caught me, I wanted to take my shoes but they said no
I had to take the shoes with my hands. Once there, I have seen my colleagues, they were asked to take out their things
they asked me to take out the cords of my shoes, the jackets with zippers and so
Then we were separated in different cells, they didnít want us to be in the same cell. I was with one guy of 20 something
They didnít give me anything to eat, I couldnít sleep because I didnít know that guy, if I fell asleep maybe he would harm me
it wasnít fair. They blame you without being sure that you are the one who did it, they come to your home as if it was their home
They arrive, ring the bell and take you, is this fair, eh?
I think they are looking for someone and they donít know who it is, and when they are looking for somebody from Salt, it should be a black person that did somethingÖ
first, they look for the adults, if they canít, then they come to us, the youngsters, and blame us of what happened
someone told me that it was because we had hit a woman, and we had taker her purse, her bag, the money, the mobile phone, and weÖ I was not there that day
I felt bad when I was in the police cell because there was no prove against me, they had nothing,
and I felt bad because I was thinking that I had made something, and I did nothing
I didnít have done anything and I was afraid that something worse could happen
and they put me in the jail or I could get a big fine
they accused us, they hit us to give them the names of those who had stolen, and we are not so crazy as to give them the names of those who had stolen
we have said that no way we would give them any name, we endured and kept silence
we have taken a beating, but then thatís all, now look, here we are
I think they caught us by mistake I think, sometimes they make mistakes, they go wrong and then they come to the street and make us questions
Every time that something happens they come to us, when something serious happens the first thing they do is looking for us
they ask us, and even if we didnít do anything they still go on and on, they always come back when something happens
I think that they always get wrong and stop the wrong people, and thatís not cool
now I donít steal anymore because they caught me many times, and I have better things to do than being stealing
the penalties applied or not, we donít call them penalties, we call them measures
because they are minors, not adults. The smallest one is the warning, for those cases when it is considered enough
by the judge, to make the youngster to reflect, to invite him to understand that he or she has trespassed a protected right
as it could be the property right, then other measures are the works in favor to the community
what it means to offer services for the common good, then there are socio educative tasks consistent in develop educational programs
as an example, one of the more used is the program for impulse self-control
because the youngsters that come here usually have big difficulties to control their impulses
another measure is the probation, that it means to assign to the youngster one technician from the Regional Government
that makes a follow up, develops a program with the youngster and tells him in which direction he has to move on
talk to him / her, makes him / her to understand what an offense is, their consenquences
and they usually meet once a week or twice a month. Another measure is the weekend internments
that makes possible to intern a youngster during a weekend to know what a closed environment is, and start to know the restraint that it means
Another measure is that the youngster spends some weekend with one family, or stays a weekend stuck at home
and finally there is the last measure, the most serious one, that is the internment
it can be an open center, where all activities are developed outside, and there they just eat and sleep
the semi-open center, where some activities are developed outside, but the biggest number are developed inside the center
And the total and closed internment, when the youngster cannot leave the center
Well, I was really young when I started in the world of drugs and delinquency 78 00:10:54,220 --> 00:10:58,840 when I arrived to Spain when I was 15, I joined, we always excuse ourselves by blaming some others
while this is something that really depends on yourself, I joined undesirable people and that dragged me
flirting with drugs, and from this, to the world of delinquency
To be in prison didnít change me too much, but helped me very much to realize many things that I still had to change
I feel better by having left delinquency, but more than thisÖ to have changed my life in general
I think that both, love, music and education, are fundamental basis forÖ,
are basic pillars that if we really follow and depend on them can help to have a more comfortable, calm and quite life
much different from the one I was living before
no, no, no, noÖ through this song I will talk to you about the education in this *** situation
Youngster suffer very much, very much, the same as I, for my future, fight, fight
you have to go straight to work with your people, look for a course that makes you smarter
to be aware of your education, donít get carried away by bad people, hey friend, tell him, tell him what it is
tell him what it isÖ I will tell you now, I will tell you now, yeah, nowadays education is forbidden
not much of what our people experienceÖ seems really important
yo, big friend, me pregunto como enfretamos las dificultades de la vida, no hay suficientes cursos para todos los jovenes I, big friend, ask myself how to deal with difficulties in life, there are not enough courses for all the youngesters
that walk among the ruins, smoking joints at the corners, in the quarters, there is one more question, how the youngster will go forward
forward they will go, they will go, they will goÖ
So, I think that one of the reason of delinquency is, well one of the reasons is the lack of education
the economic situation that we are living as well, I mean, there are many families in very bad conditions because of unemployment
also for people with studies it takes time to get a job, their parents donít know if they will have to turn back to their origin countries
what they have to do, because their unemployment insurances finish too, and then I think that the youngsters are very much disenchanted
This situation that I have now itís because the *** crisis that donít let you live in peace
there are not enough courses to life and I donít know, we need money, and this is why the people is like it is
if I could come back 5 years before I would do it because I have no studies, I only went to school to disturbing the teachers and insult them
to *** them off, and I think that now Iím sorry, worth it to study
I think that we have to study if we want to get a job, letís see if we can have a diploma or make some courses to be able to go forward
To be inside LABLEARNING from Salt, has made me realize that I can, it will help me, you know?
I will be able to continue studying, letís seeÖ
if there were more courses like this people would stop stealing and would do other things
Letís see, probably, probably, itís not somethingÖ the fact of having more educational resources doenít mean automatically that there will be less delinquency
probably it would help to have less delinquency, because the lack of occupation for a young person
can easily take him to be more time in the Street, and this can make easier the possibility to join antisocial groups and acquire also the habit of offending
having resources for young people, not only the information points for young people, but space where young people can meet during their spare time
and being able to decide which activities they want to do, where they can organize activities by themselves
where they can find resources, right, here in Salt there is no civic center, but if there were it would be nice, isnít it?
the fact of having resources and having the possibility to access them, it helps to spend your time doing other things instead of offending
but I wouldnít venture to say thatís all, but there are other things that would help to avoid delinquency
Well, I left my studies to help at home. We had recently arrived from France,
my father got into a house, we were 8 brothers and sisters and, well, people always told me that I was intelligent but studies were not made for me
or maybe I believed that they were not for me, but it was a mistake, and what I do now is to inculcate my children that they must study
another thing is that they heed me.
when I was in the schools I was just writing music, I studied almost nothing, I ignored the teachers and did what I pleased
woww, if I could go 5 years back, I think that I would change, I would change delinquency and would improve in my studies
I would improve very much in my studies, very much. I think that now there is no future for children here in Spain
I think we all are *** now. If we have no future now, imagine their futureÖ they, is better that they study, you know?
because now, the only thing I see now here in Spain is to study, to study and to study,
because going to delinquency, going to delinquency you earn nothing, you donít get a job, you donít get diplomas, courses, nothing.
I had the bad luck of having stayed in Africa 4 years because I couldnít study everything I needed when I was a child
thatís why when I came back I joined people that never studied neither
I donít think that we have enough training offer in Salt, because we have made a research about the existing training offer in Salt
And there are a lot of people applying for different training courses, but many of them are not finally enrolled
I think that if there would be more training courses in Salt, delinquency would go down
because the youngsters would be studying and they wouldnít have the time to commit offences.
I didnít leave my studies, when I finished the 4th degree they didnít leave me to repeat because of my bad behavior
I misbehaved because the teachers were not good people. If any teacher doesnít have good behavior to me or he is cocky, I donít like it
If he is cocky I will be even worse, but if you are cool I will be cool as well
if I could go 5 years back, I would have good behavior in the classroom, I would do everything well, because otherwise I wouldnít have the diploma, as it is now.
Now I have to pass my exam to access the professional training and to have my diploma of secondary education, if I had had good behavior in former times, now I wouldnít need to do that
Training resources for young people between 16 and 18 years, we have the Program for Initial Vocational Qualification, around 30 places
and as formal training we just have this, then we have the adult training center in Salt
where young people can have training to get the secondary education diploma, from the age of 18, there are also a training course to get prepared to access the professional training offer
I donít know exactly the number of places, but it would be around 60, at the most
and then, this year will start in February a new program called ìYoungster for Employmentî where we will offer 20 more places
every time there are less resources for these profiles, thatís for youngster between 16 and 18 years with their primary studies unfinished, here in Salt practically there are no resources
And in Girona, there are less and less resources every time
worth studying
live, live, here we are filming live
free live music, live broadcast, live, live, you know mega what Iím leading
and thatís why Iím telling you singing, with my live music, here in Salt, live
and the quarter itís our ghetto, everybodyÖ if you need drugs, come, it never fails, honey man
and if you are my friend, donít worry, here the free life people use a lot
we sing and we compete, music, and if you like with my megas we repeat, no, no, we donít lie
we, we sell our records at level andÖ we always win with my music
we come from the North Pole, singing before I die, singing and enjoying my good luck
I come here live, I big friend, and LABLEARNING in live, I with my megas in live
we sing our music, we dance, Iím big friend, I come from the south of the peninsula, Senegal, West Africa
all natural, in this rival quarter, look, tell, tell a lot about the evil, look how many good friends
all their pants are lowered showing music and art
So, I have a music band called ìFree Lifeî that it means vida libre (in Spanish) or ìdo what you pleaseî, what you want
and I have other people singing with me, many people. My name is Hot Boy and I like singing and Iím always there
I think music changed me a lot and helped me very much as well, because now I know many people who love my music
and they encourage me and help me, and instead doing bad things Iím always busy writing music
and I spend the time with this, if Iím not singing, Iím dancing, and if not, Iím listening to music
yes, we have recorded a couple of songs, many of them are already in Youtube, and people like them
and they still listen to them, and they always ask me when I will upload a new oneÖ and so, and soÖ
and the lyrics of the songs talk aboutÖ before they talked about us, about what we did, girls, and so
But now we talk more about now, about what happens nowadays, job, crisis, and how the people are, how to go on.
Yes, yes, music is a hobby and if the person has a passion and likes it, it can help to prevent delinquency
music has a big power of change, we strongly believe in the social change through the music
and the creativity, and everything related to art, and music such as itís being proved in Salt and many other places, most of it itís transformative
and make appear very possitive things there where itís created. Public administrations should invest in future, in motivation, in promoting new learning
The truth is that music is an escape, a way of relaxing, meditation, and works very well
yes, I even cried, and not once, many times, listening to music, because it reminds you many things
It removes things inside you, things you felt but you couldnít live because of drugs, and this environment
yes you, yes you, yes you have to burn, you will feel better, in this song Iíll talk to you about evil
something that made me feel better, since I have you
I donít stop for good things, my baby made me change, a great life to start
I thank God for giving me this opportunity. In this song I will talk about love,
to show you the power of love, I discovred that love can change us only if you have a person who makes you happy
I, big friend, tell you that love changed my life, I donít lie, itís what I feel
yeah, yeah, yeah, in this song I will talk about love, something that made me feel better since I donít have it
I donít stop for good things, my baby made me change, a great life to start, I thank God for giving me this opportunity
if you have love thatís the best, because she will help you to understand many things that you never learnt
this is the message I wanted to give you, and lead it to you, for you to know the good and bad things I want to tell you
and admit, thanks to you I know what itís the love that God gave me, if you, if you have love, if you have, if you haveÖ loveÖ
The relation I have with my family from time to time is that I come to see my mum, I come to see her, but not much relation
I go to prison to see my father, or he comes from prison and I see him, but itís not a relation between mother and daughter, or between father and daughter
Itís a friendship relation, you know? But itís not a mother and daughter or father and daughter relationship.
I think that if I had get more love from my family, from my parents, maybe I would be different, I wouldnít have as many psychological problems
as I have, I would be a little be calm and I wouldnít spend the whole day thinking about the pas, you know? I think too much about it
It would have been different if my parents wouldnít have fallen into drugs and so on
I think I donít have a normal family, because in a normal family the parents are who take care of children
parents care about children, and in my home itís not like that, at home my parents were always sleeping
And we did what we pleased, so we didnít have norms, we didnít have anything
The truth is that when you are a child you think: what the ***, I donít understand anything
But you now, you grow up and you start to think: *** of family, it doesnít make sense, you know?
you have children, what for?, donít have them if you are into drugs, you know? Go on by yourself but donít have children if you are not taking care of them
thatís what I think at least, donít have children if you wonít take care of them, and if you are into drugs itís even worse
At least for me, drugs is the worst thing that exists
They should have been who suffered the beatings and everything, they should have been and not us, you know?
I have been inside a world where I just lived for myself, if there is something I regret about my life is just not having been able to take care of my daughters
to look after them, to educate them correctly, but the things happened like that, my job starts now, I think
because I couldnít really give them all that I would have liked, because I have been inside a world that
it was my capsule, and from there I wouldnít see anything, no children, no wife, no family, I saw absolutely nothing, nothing but my own things
money, drugs, I was just aware about my own things
The change it came just because I wanted to recover everything I thought I have, but that really I didnít have
My family, mi daughters, a good jobÖ recover my life, thatís it!
I think that I have got all the love I could get and even more, but I never noticed it, and I never wanted to notice it
In this environment, probably because of the delinquency, it comes the helplessness and the lack of affectivity
if this wouldnít happen, that we could probably assimilate with the lack of love, for sure there wouldnít be as much delinquency.
My job is not deal with the youngsters through love; I have to treat the youngsters with respect. Itís not my job to love them; I have to treat them with respect
My name is Wiz, Iím 17 and Iím from Salt
My name is Omara, Iím 16 and Iím from Salt
My name is Esther Salvachua, Iím social educator and I work at Ser.gi Foundation, and more concretely in a program called ìDoor of accessî
My name is Gemma, and Iím the social educator of the Association Arrels Urbanes, from Salt
My name is Montserrat Bastit, Iím 53, and I work as a judge in the minors court of Girona
My name is Mali, Iím 17, Iím from Senegal
My name is Maribel Pena, I work as a youth technician in the Municipality of Salt
Hi, Iím Sergi Subietas, as you can see Iím a policeman
Iíve been working here, at the city of Salt, for approximately 7 years
Hi, my name is Cise, Iím 19, Iím from Senegal and I live in Girona
My name is JosÈ, Iím 45, I was born in France but I live in Girona, Iím the father of 4 children, and one of them, Sheila, is producing this film
Sheila, Iím 18
Amara, 17, from Salt here
I would suggest the youngster to take advantage of their age by studying
I would encourage them to continue studying, and specially to be involved professional training
because itís proved that people with studies, technical professional training or higher professional training
they find a job before than other people without studies, thatís obvious, itís very clear, it was always like that
As Arrels Urbanes, as Gemma, an educator, the advice for the young people from Salt is
go ahead!, you are strong, very much creativity, a lot of capacities, donít surrender, donít bring down because of your environment
have a fix idea, and go through it, donít be lazy, and if you want something you must struggle
The advice that I would give a youngster from Salt would be to study more, to stop smoking and stealing, if you study everything will be better
Well, I would suggest the youngsters to have an illusion and, above all, to get training, of course, do trainings
that they try to get trainings about verything they can, because it is necessary to have a mÌnimum education and to get involved in social issues
To have a clear idea about what you want, to love yourself, right? And to be loyal to yourself and to what you want
Well, I would recommend them the same, that they study, to get trained, because the situation is not easy,
to grow up is becoming complicated, and for this reason, if we are not well trained the difficulties are bigger and bigger every time, study and prepare yourself
One of the advices that I would give to the Young people from Salt, from Girona and from everywhere, is to avoid drugs
delinquency only brings you bad consequences, if they really stop and think a bit
I think there is nothing better than what you get thanks to your own efforts
because you have really fighted for it, and enjoy of what you get and realice that what you did is good for you, for the others, and you didnít harm anybody
I would give this advice to the youngsters from Salt: go ahead and never surrender!
