hello my name is janice and i'm a nurse here at the pacific center for plastic
surgery
i'm going to be discussing the use of the scopolamine patch
every patient
is given a prescription for a scopolamine patch which is an anti nausea medication
we'd like to get placed this medication on
one day prior to your surgery
and leave it on for three full days
you will choose an area that is free from any hair
cuts or scrapes
and you want to wash that area with soap and water
and let it dry prior to placing the medication on
we would prefer you to place the medication either on
your upper arm or on your chest
you will take the medication
you will open the packet
it is a very small circular medications
has been covering on both
sides
be sure to remove
both coverings
prior to placing on your skin as you will not activate the medication if you do not
once you've taken both plastic pieces off
place on the area choice
and be sure to wash your hands thoroughly afterwards
when it is time to remove the medication gently pull it off
from your skin and fold
the package in half
so that the ends are touching each other
if this is left
out and a
pet or young child or an adult
gets a hold of it, it may still contain some
active medication and can be harmful
when choosing the location to place your scopolamine patch
if you have chosen your chest
and you do have a clonodine patch as well
be sure you place them on opposite ends of the body
do not place them next to each other
