Hello everyone, this is Lee from StepUp.io and in this video I will be showing you how
to navigate StepUp.io and get the most from our site.
So this is the StepUp.io homepage, the first thing you'll notice is our instruction video
in the centre of the screen and a bunch of white boxes next to it. We'll get to those
in a minute. On the left we have the most popular videos on the site, up top we have
links to our Twitter and our blog, and you can sign in or request an invite if you haven't
already got an account. We also have a category section which when you click it shows the
several types of videos we have on StepUp.io. Simply click a genre you are interested in
and you will see all of the relevant tutorials. For this demonstration we will choose "music instrument".
Here you'll see a page very similar to the home screen.
We have a video in the centre with those white boxes next to it. On StepUp.io
these white boxes represent steps. Simply press play on the on-screen interface or the
space bar on your keyboard to begin the first step.
What happens is that StepUp.io repeats parts of the video to make it easier to learn. Here
we have an instructor telling us the chords to Somewhere Over the Rainbow for the ukulele.
Normally, this video would play through uninterrupted, leaving the viewer at home struggling to keep
up. Now, as you can see, each step is handily repeated.
If you want to try the step without the instruction, you can turn off the loop feature and try for yourself.
To help you, some steps have added notes to them.
These can be read underneath the video player while the step is playing, or by moving
your mouse cursor over the respective step -- like this.
To move through steps you can use the on-screen buttons or the arrow keys on your keyboard.
Pressing right moves you to the next step while pressing left takes you to the previous step.
Pressing up allows you to "step up", which means StepUp.io combines two smaller
steps into a longer step for you to practice. If you are finding this too difficult, you
can always move back down. The goal is that you will be able to play the entire video in just one step.
So that's StepUp.io, a simple but revolutionary
tool for video learning. If you have any questions or comments you can send us an email at info@stepup.io.
You can also find us on Twitter at twitter.com/stepupio, and for more information check out blog.stepup.io.
And remember, StepUp.io is changing every day, so come back soon to see what's new.
Bye!
