In June 26, 2011
at a duck farm owned by a Vietnamese,
hired more than 20 illegal Vietnamese to work in Laos.
In an area called Don Na Thong located in Sikhottabong District, Vientiane.
An incident occurred involving the brutal raping of an innocent Laotian girl.
Illegal Vietnamese workers were drinking after their job was completed
and happened to see a 12 year old Laotian girl walking by.
They tricked the little girl to come meet them.
Then they took turn and *** the little girl until she died.
One Vietnamese worker reported the incident to a local authority.
After the arrest of the 21 illegal Vietnamese works,
the Vietnamese embassy in Vientiane found out about the incident
asked for the perpetrators to be sent back to Vietnam immediately.
They promised to take full responsibility.
They promised to pay 20 million Kip for each illegal Vietnamese worker involved in the incident.
A total cost of 420 million Kip to the family of the victim.
The incident prompted the Communist Lao government to prohibit the news from being published
for fear of hurting the good relationship between Laos and Vietnam.
No matter what, currently there is still no freedom of press
regarding the raping of the 12 year old Laotian girl.
