May 2012 - June 2012 Canada - British Columbia
Where is my bed ? Oh, there it is ?!
- Hey Siphay, what are you doing ? - I'm preparing my bed to put it in my bag.
- Ready for Alaska ? - Yeah Alaska. Wait, Alaska ?! My bed's not warm enough !
Here we are, on the ferry to Vancouver Island !
We are in Port McNeill, on the Norther part of Vancouver Island
Kai and Andrea lend us a fishing boat to sleep in
and we have to join Prince Rupert, without paying the ferry, kind of complicated, isn't it ?
Either we find a fishboat or we'll sell our bodies.
- If we don't find a fishing boat, how do we go to Prince Rupert ? - We can sell Siphay ! At auction !
- If we don't do any of theses solutions, what do we do ?! - I will take you to Prince Rupert, I'll be the commander !
Now we are with Kai, we're going to fish some crabs !
It's June 2, 2012 and we are in port Hardy, on the Northern part of Vancouver Island,
and we met Dan, who agreed to help us and take us to Prince Rupert.
So we are going on his boat to the North, and it should take 5 days.
Ladies en gentlemen, we are soon arriving to Alaska. I repeat, Alaska.
All right, let's go !
Oh f*** it's cold ! Oh it's so cold !
- We are finally arriving to Prince Rupert. How was the trip, these last 5 days ?
Bears are a risk we have to take care of.
We have to hang up our food panniers, away from them.
Life on a journey is not always sweet. Etienne just had a serious crash, we were close to tragedy.
His collarbone is broken and got serious burns all over his body.
He's just been taken to Dease Lake hospital in a car in emergency,
we stayed on the road with the bikes, we'll have to find a vehicle to take us there.
We have to go there quickly and do our best for him.
We are sad already, because he will have to go back to France... It pisses us off...
I feel like a fool. Maybe we shouldn't have went down this fast in this downhill.
But there was no sign for the gravels, so I don't feel we are completely guilty.
Etienne was not lucky, I almost crashed too. It could have been any of us.
I'm failing to realise he won't be there anymore. At least for a moment.
I want to talk later. I want to say something too.
I see you bike there. You were close to crash too.
Everything was so quick, we were riding at 60/70 kph before the turn.
Etienne started to drift when we hit the gravel road.
He fell down and turned pale. I thought it was just the aftershock, 34 but Morgan felt something broken just now. 00:08:21,000 --> 00:08:25,000
I arrived really close to the ravine,
Etienne didn't have the chance to stop.
