Establishing a lawn using sod plugs can be very cost effective.
It's cheaper than sodding and can often produce more consistent results than seeding from scratch.
The problem has always been the work involved in preparing the soil...
you either have to dig furrows or individual holes my hand
or use one of the square pluggers that take one plug at a time.
Both of these methods can be time-consuming back-breaking work...
that is, until now!
Hi, I'm Bill Carney, creator of the ProPlugger 200
a tool designed specifically for sod plugging and one that has the 3 attributes that
I look for any landscape tool;
It's easy to use
it's effective
and it's a great value!
Here's how it works. Step down on the foot-peg, a slight twist of the handlebars
and pull straight up...it's that easy
You can pull up to a half dozen before you need to empty the plugs
as you pull them, they stored or "stacked" up the shaft and when you ready to empty
turn the ProPlugger upside down and the plugs will slide right out!
Cutting the new plugs is just as easy.
For this example
I'm effectively turning this yard into my own sod farm
by pulling the sod plugs from an area of desirable turf...
in this case, Zenith Zoysia
The principle is the same though for cutting plugs from pieces of sod from a sod farm...
Stepping down on the foot-pegs until they bottom
you start pulling your plugs.
As you can see
the ProPlugger pulls a 2 inch plug
capturing more of the root system which will require less frequent watering once the
new plugs are planted.
I'm dropping in a ProPlugger, organic Coco-peat disk into each of the holes
you can actually break these disks in half as there's plenty of material to fill each hole.
The next time it rains or you irrigate, these disks will rehydrate to fill the hole completely
helping to jump start the growth of the surrounding turf.
Press the new plugs into the holes you created earlier and you're done!
Simple to use...quick and effective, the ProPlugger is also a great value!
It's welded, all-steel construction will give you years of service
at a price is about the same as just one oil change on your car!
