Mustang Project Resolution- Introduction apple
Everybody, this is Randy here in Eastwood. Today, we are going to over a new project
car, a 1989 LX 5.0 Mustang and our goal is to transform this tired old Fox Body into
the cruise night worthy car for less than $7000 and right now match assessing the situation
under the hood.
Thanks Randy, now this car did not live a fairy tale life. This thing was driven and
was driven hard. So, everything under the hood needs to be freshened up and maintained,
but other than that, the front end here, the bumper has faded. This is typical on these
cars. The headlights are foggy, they are damaged, and they needed to be replaced, but the worse
part of everything under the hood and the front end here is actually damaged right here.
This thing was hit in the front at some point, banged out with a hammer in the backyard,
then need to slap some filler on. It is really unacceptable. We need to take care of this
first. That is one the first things we are going to do is to pull a fender off, the bumper
off and just to assess how bad that damage is. So, now we are going to close the hood
here and to show you how that damage translates even to the outside of the car when the hood
is closed up and the damage is hidden, you could see here, the body winds, the really
really unnerving going for really wide all the way they are really tight here in the
back of the hood. I am moving back on the car. The accident damaged up front. It is
even here on the back of the fender and the door where they meet, it is hitting, tripping
the paint off and also on the top of the door here the gap is much larger than it needs
to be. In all the weather stripping shot, it only is replaced. Just look it up here
around the sunroof. The sunroof seal has really cracked badly from years of sun beating down
on it, wipe the rust out instead taking everything apart but even worse back here more body damage.
It looks like somebody had jumped on the roof and they had just beat the back out with a
hammer, which stretched the metal. We get into the heavy bodywork on this thing. We
are going to really have to take sometime to fix that correctly. Again not only is a
_____, but it is rusted and rust is not only there, it is on fenders and the quarter panels
too. Everybody knows that rust when you see it on the outside here just the tip of the
iceberg, so we start digging into a project, any rust you see here is probably going to
be worse, so we stopped pulling in the carpet and everything else out on the interior. That
interior is really bad what you think about that. Yeah, we can see it. It shows 23 years
of abuse, the seats stripped, the headline is hanging down, and the carpet is shot. I
guarantee we are going to use a lot useful tools and that this car look good again. Yeah,
I cannot wait to start digging in this thing and just see what we have got ourselves into
and hopefully we could start making this things work as good as it did. The day have rolled
off to showroom for, so let us get started.
