Hi, this is Joelle Meijer.
I will show you how to create a stain glass heart with pieces of coloured tissue paper.
To make a stained glass heart, first draw your pattern on black construction paper.
With an x-acto knife or small scissors, cut out the inside of the heart
and then cut the outside of the heart with big scissors. Take various colours
of tissue paper and cut into pieces. Dilute white glue with a little water so that
it is easy to spread. Cut a piece of waxed paper and place the heart in black
construction paper that you have previously cut underneath the waxed paper.
That will show you where you have to glue the tissue paper. Now, glue pieces of tissue
paper on the waxed paper with the diluted glue and a paintbrush. Make sure to go beyond
the limits so that it will be easier to assemble later. When you are satisfied with
your work, let dry. When the tissue paper is dry, glue the black heart with white glue
on the collage of tissue paper and when the white glue is dry, trim off any excess.
If you want your work to be nice on both sides, cut a second heart from the black
construction paper and glue it on the other side of the waxed paper. Make a small hole
through both layers of construction paper and wax paper with a needle or small sharp
scissors. Then, pass a nylon thread through the hole and hang the heart in a window
with a little suction cup. Instead of cutting the pieces of tissue paper, you can also
make the same project by tearing pieces of tissue paper. The result will be different
but just as lovely! It's your choice! To access a free document with a detailed list
