So right now, everyone is freaking out about Marvel’s Phase 3, which goes all the way
to 2019. But today, I’m leaving that territory, because everyone’s already gotten their
thoughts out on this lineup. Today, I’m looking way, way into the future of 5 years
from now and looking at what I think will come to be in Marvel Phase 4. If that actually
ends up happening, which is my first quick point here. If somehow, all of these movies
are terrible and bomb horribly, don’t ask me in what universe this would happen, I’m
just speculating, then maybe there won’t be a Phase 4. But who are we kidding, there’s
gonna be one. And also note that these are not necessarily all the films I want to see,
these are the films I’m thinking we will see. Alright, let’s delve into this.
Firstly, we’re gonna be getting some sequels. Now, Phase 3 is introducing us to a lot of
new characters. Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, the Inhumans, and
even Marvel’s take on Spider-Man. So depending on how well the films do, we’ll getting
some follow ups. We’ll most definitely be seeing Guardians of the Galaxy 3, and like
I said, if people like the movies, we may very well get stuff like Ant-Man 2 or Black
Panther 2. It all depends on how well they do. Now on the flip side of that, we probably
won’t be seeing an Iron Man 4, Captain America 4, or Thor 4, although that would be a great
title for a film. Not only is Marvel not really that keen on continuing a hero’s franchise
after the third installment, the actors probably aren’t going to be coming back. I mean by
that time, as much as I love him and as much as I’d love to see him in like Avengers
6, Robert Downey Jr. might be too old to do another solo film. Nothing against the guy,
I love his work, but I’m just keeping it real here.
Now, while those heroes have already had their time, it might be time for the heroes who
haven’t gotten their films yet to get them. Potentially maybe a Hawkeye movie? Maybe a
Black Widow movie? Maybe even a Loki movie. Now, Jeremy Renner would be in his 50s when
that eventually rolls around, but Robert Downey Jr. is currently 50, so that shouldn’t be
too much of a problem. Scarlett Johansson would be early 40s, that’s fine, and Tom
Hiddleston would be mid 40s, so age won’t really be a barrier here. Some people might
wonder why I’d want a Loki film, but I’m just saying, Loki steals every scene he’s
in in Thor: The Dark World, and he’s an MCU favorite. He’s probably had all sorts
of adventures off on his own. As far as other characters that we’ve seen now getting their
films, a Hulk solo movie has been rumored for a while, namely Planet Hulk, but both
Mark Ruffalo and Joss Whedon have said that that kind of movie wouldn’t work. So maybe
we’ll see Hulk teaming up with the Guardians in Guardians 3, as a lot of people have been
suggesting. I’d love to see that, but I think Hulk might be a bit too powerful for
the Guardians team. Like, he could have defeated Ronan in about 5 seconds. But still, it’d
be interesting to see. As far as other people who could be getting
films, there’s been talk of a Defenders film, that would be a film starring the Netflix
heroes, that could be cool. Another Captain America could be done with Bucky or Falcon
taking on the mantle. If the first one does well and Sony and Marvel are still friends
at that point, there could be more Spider-Man films. And then there’s most definitely
going to be Avengers 4, which thanks to the splitting of the third will technically be
Avengers 5. How they’re gonna top Thanos coming down and almost destroying the universe,
I don’t know. You can’t just keep upping the stakes. Regardless, at this point, I think
we’ll have a completely different roster of heroes than we had in the first film, looking
more like these New Avengers, with Doctor Strange, new Captain America, Inhumans, and
maybe even a female Thor. That’d be cool, but it might be a bit of a stretch.
And just like in Phase 3, we’ll most likely be getting a look at new properties, ones
that haven’t even been seen in the MCU yet. I’m talking about the Punisher, Ghost Rider,
maybe even Blade. They’ve got the rights to it, so I don’t know. Or maybe stuff that
we haven’t even thought of. Like, no one thought they were gonna make Guardians of
the Galaxy, so who knows! And after Phase 4, you know what, I don’t know. They’ll
might just be scraping the bottom of the barrel at that point. Howard the Duck: The Reboot,
a Valstaag spin off movie, an adventure film starring Agent Sitwell, who knows. Point is,
I’ve already been looking too far into the future, let’s just call it a day now.
So those are my thoughts and predictions for Marvel’s Phase 4. What do you think we’ll
see and what do you hope we’ll see. Let me know as always in the comments. While you’re
