(On the 11th of February, 2011, Mubarak stepped down and handed over power to the Egyptian armed forces)
- President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak has decided to step down as President,
and has mandated the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces the responsibility to manage state affairs
(Chants: Egypt is free! Egypt is free!)
- They told us they protected the revolution
and so started the transitional (revenge) period
we made a mistake when we left the squares and streets without a new constitution
Our revolution did not govern, but it continued
Sheikh Emad died
Mina Danial died
The people can no longer be silent
(military spokesperson denies the Maspero massacre was performed by the armed forces)
- The idea of crushing of people with tanks,
and the use of that method,
does not exist in the ideology of the armed forces
even when fighting against the enemy
We do not commit such mistakes,
and such mistakes are forbidden by international law
It is impossible that these acts were performed by the armed forces
Impossible!
Military liars Liars in the name of religion
(General Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, denies any abuses by the military during their rule)
At the time I did not have the possibility to talk with the media
We have to understand that the army is a patriotic institution
that is very honest
and is very loyal to its country
and is very protective of its nation
I would like to say that the armed forces, and I swear to you all in front of God,
from the 25th of January 2011 and onwards, and I swear to God,
has not killed or ordered any killing,
and has not betrayed or ordered any forms of betrayal,
The armed forces are honest, patriotic and loyal
- They told us they were our partners in the revolution
They walked into parliament on the dead bodies of the heroes of Mohamed Mahmoud Street
A massacre in Port Said, and a new massacre in Mohamed Mahmoud street
and they said "there is no shooting"
(Al-Katatny, speaker of parliament, Muslim Brotherhood)
- The Minister of Interior has ensured me that no pellet cartridge shots have been fired on the protesters
(MP showing cartridge fired by the police) - Sir... Here are the cartridges, sir... Look.
- With the lies and abuses from those who "protected" the revolution,
and the lies from those who claimed to be "partners",
the nature of the deal between them began to become obvious
Military rule or no military rule? Which one will it be "Brothers"?
(Safwat Hegazi, preacher and important leading figure in the Muslim Brotherhood/islamist camp)
- Why military rule? Do they think we are Zionists?
- We are not concerned with the constitution. We are a revolution.
The revolution ended all these systems,
and we are ready to end the rule of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces
- I want us, the people, to make a deal with the military
where the military hands over power,
protects the country and installs democracy
and returns to its barracks,
and we will not open the corruption files against them.
- But that could be considered complicity in theirs crimes...
- Consider it a deal, what's wrong with that?
(Mohamed Morsi is declared winner of the presidential elections with 52% of the votes with a voter turn out of 43%)
- Mohammed Morsi Eisa Al-Ayat received 13 million votes
(Safwat Hegazi)
- And our capital will be, not Cairo, not Mecca or Medina,
but Jerusalem!
- And the deal was concluded,
and the heads of the military were decorated and got a safe exit
"God is great!" , "An Islamic state, an Islamic state"
Then came a year of torture and lies and killings in the name of religion
- He was lying in his blood on the ground
with a bullet in his head. In his head and neck.
(Nov/Dec 2012: Morsi issued a constitutional declaration placing himself above the law, sparking massive demonstrations)
(Leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood called their supporters to go confront the protesters that were outside the presidential palace)
(Large numbers of Muslim Brotherhood supporters attacked the protesters, many were armed, and violent clashes ensued)
(Several protesters were beaten and tortured by members of the Muslim Brotherhood and their supporters)
(Mosques were used as torture cells)
(The police did not intervene to protect the protesters from attack)
(30th of June, 2013: Massive demonstrations to withdraw confidence Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood)
- And the day of reckoning approached, and the people of Egypt rebelled in a glorious popular rebellion
"Leave!" was being chanted, uniting millions again
(Chants) "Leave!" "Leave!" "Leave!"
(Demonstrations against Morsi in Al-Minya on the 30th of June)
(Members of the Muslim Brotherhood attack the demonstration in Al-Minya)
(Muslim Brotherhood supporters attack Tahrir)
- But they are a small minority... they are nothing in comparison to the People
(Armed Muslim Brotherhood members attack residents in the areas surrounding their sit-ins and demonstrations)
(Several people are killed in the attacks)
(Armed Muslim Brotherhood members clash with residents in the vicinity of their sit-in close to the Cairo University)
- The Muslim Brotherhood have been staging a sit-in here since yesterday
- I have no problem with the sit-in, it is their right just like the right of the protesters in Tahrir
But, tell me, is it their right to have a sit-in with weapons, with automatic weapons?
They have heavy weapons and there are many shots coming from there
- What happened exactly?
There were some skirmishes between them and a passer-by in a car
The passer-by swore at them, and they fired bullets at him
and since then they have been firing at the people working in the shops in the street
- People are dying...
- Two people in this street have died. and many are wounded
And now they are blocking the street from the outside
there is a lot of gunfire
Neither the police not the military has come to intervene
and I mean... It is unnacceptable that this street be besieged for 3-4 hours by the Muslim Brotherhood
- The revolution started essentially against the oppression of the police
and so that we could win back our human dignity
but in the midst of the myriad of lies and accusations
a new liar was added to the set of liars
but this time in a police uniform
O respected officers, how many deaths do you have on your hands?
- Our goal is the protection of citizens and not of the regime.
Which regime? The old one? The present one? A future one?
The goal is the protection of citizens.
The Egyptian police force stands outside the political struggle
The police forces have suffered greatly during the revolution from accusations towards them
such as opening prisons, burning police stations
using snipers, crushing citizens with armoured cars
Never could the members of the police force imagine that history would speak up this quickly in their favour
and redeem them from all the accusations against them since the start of the January 25th revolution
The Egyptian people are now again completely aware that the police force have worked hard for the sake of the people
and are completely innocent from all these accusations
- Has the military stopped being a military ruler?
Have those who trade with religion stopped lying in the name of religion?
Is this a coup or a revolution?
And, if it was a coup, who was it against?
Against he Muslim Brotherhood? Or the January 25th revolution?
(Mortada Mansour, one of the icons of the Mubarak regime)
- I repeat again, there was no such thing as the January 25th revolution
the real revolution was on the 30th of June 2013
- And if this is a continuation of our revolution, why are they demonizing January 25th?
Why do they forget how the military was not able to subdue the people by getting rid of Mubarak for them?
And why isn't anyone protecting civilians from death?
In Manial, Giza, Upper Egypt, Sinai, and the Nile Delta, they are being killed in the streets and in their homes
Christians killed because they finally refuse to be silent
Is it possible to hold the Muslim Brotherhood responsible for all crimes committed?
Is it possible to forget who killed our martyrs and continue their lies?
Is it possible to reconcile with oppressive systems because of some free water bottles and hearts in the sky?
Is it possible to have a revolution without justice in the transitional period?
If the Republican Guard hadn't been armed, which side would have killed the other?
If I want to prevent you from storming a place, why would I use lethal force?
Why not shoot you in the legs just to stop your advance?
If two parties who have always lied start accusing each other of lying -
which one do you expect me to believe?
Do I actually have to believe any of them?
And do I actually have to answer all these questions?
Haven't I perhaps seen enough to believe that neither of them can be trusted?
And that I have to focus on my revolution and make sure I continue it?
And that perhaps I am the alternative, I am the solution,
and I am the roadmap?
I who shouted out demanding bread, freedom and human dignity,
I will continue regardless of all these questions.
The revolution should govern Egypt
