Hi, and welcome to this edition of the travelling bed. I’m Alex Read-Brain, the marketing
director here at Superior Beds Switzerland and I’m on the sunshine coast in Queensland,
Australia visiting my Aunt and Uncle. I’ve been sleeping in their guest room for 5 days
on this queen sized bed. It’s a queen sized mattress and frame bed sitting on top of slats.
Queen sized is the terminology in Australia for what we in Europe call a King sized bed.
It’s a very good size for a couple or a single. Now, let me talk to you about this
bed. It’s a traditional frame, footer and header and a slat base – you might not be
able to see that but it’s a slat base and the mattress that sits on top of it is about
15-20 years old, older style design and about 15 cm thick and it’s a foam in a spring
composite. It has probably got two to three hundred inner springs and it provides a firm
feel and its comfortable over the short term that I’ve been here five days, but I wouldn’t
want to sleep on this bed every night. The difference being with a slat base and a thinner
mattress with not so many springs it doesn’t provide the support that you need over the
long term compared to a divan and pocket spring where you have got upwards of four thousand
providing support in every position that you sleep in. comfortable over the short term,
but over the long term I’d be looking for something that offers a bit more support.
I’m moving on from here so I ll bring you the next edition of the travelling bed from
the Gold coast where I am heading this afternoon, so until then, sleep well, thank you.
