It's certainly one place to hide your stash of methamphetamine, as five people are arrested
after police in Australia discovered 180 kilograms of the drug hidden in a shipment of kayaks.
This would rank in about number four or five in particular in the last eighteen months,
let's say. It's a significant problem for us.
Customs officers became suspicious after scanning a container of 27 kayaks and finding 19 of
them contained the drug, and with an estimated street value of $180 million dollars, it's
the largest haul they've intercepted.
All five have been refused bail, with police saying they face a maximum penalty of life
imprisonment if convicted.
